Cal South SRC Announces Kelly Mock
as the New State Director of Assessment
Cal South's State Referee Committee (SRC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kelly Mock to the position of State Director of Assessment (SDA) effective immediately. Mock steps into the position opened after Arturo Angeles moved over from the SDA position last month to accept an appointment as Cal South's new State Director of Instruction, following the resignation of Nasser Sarfaraz.

"We are delighted that Kelly has accepted the SDA position to lead our assessment program and continue the enhancement of our referee development activities," said Cal South State Referee Administrator George Noujaim. "Kelly is a proven contributor to the national and local level assessment programs. The SRC and the Cal South Board of Directors have confidence that he will continue to make further solid contributions to our program."

Mock, a Referee Inspector for US Soccer and National Referee Emeritus, has been actively involved in assessment at all levels of the game, from entry level up to and including National Referees, National Referee Candidates and professional referees ranging from MLS, other professional leagues, and international exhibitions. In addition to officiating games in the MLS, NASL, MISL and CISL, Mock has also served on the boards on several referee associations in Southern California, and held the position of Director of Officials for the Continental Indoor Soccer League from 1992-1997.

CalSouth State Referee Administrator
George Noujaim to Receive High Honor
from the NAIA

From a press release at http://www.naia.org/

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - George Noujaim has won the 2010 Larry Lady Officiating Award, an award presented by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), for his highly regarded work as a soccer official.

Noujaim's achievements underpin virtually every aspect of the sport of soccer and the profession of official. He has an impressive list of credentials and has distinguished himself as an extraordinary professional who exudes respect for players, coaches, spectators and administrators. He first made his mark on the pitch as a player for Chico State University, where he was a member of the NCAA Division II Championship Team in 1971. Noujaim went on to a prominent National USSF-ranked refereeing career which includes over 25 full international game assignments before being named to a FIFA Panel in 1992, when he was assigned to officiate in the World Cup preliminary games in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Mexico, as well as several assignments at the CONCACAF Championships.

Noujaim also officiated six times at the National Finals of the NAIA Men's and Women's Soccer National Championships and was selected as a referee for ten consecutive years at the local, regional and national NCAA Division I, II and III Men's and Women's Collegiate Final Four. He is a member of the Soccer Hall of Fame as a representative of NISOA and has been the supervisor of officials for the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship since 2003.

He is currently certified as holding National Assessor status with the USSF and NISOA; as a State USSF Instructor; and as an NISOA National Clinician. Noujaim is also a member of the NSCAA, appearing frequently at their conventions as a guest speaker, and currently serves as the State Referee Administrator for Cal South.

"The NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship goes off without incident each year because of George's leadership and ability to bring the highest quality of officials together," said Scott Oliver, head women's soccer coach at Siena Heights University and NSCAA-NAIA women's soccer president. "He is a great leader and has the utmost respect from his colleagues and tournament support staff."

Known for his unwavering commitment, professionalism and poised demeanor, Noujaim is an advocate for intercollegiate athletics and embraces the ideals of the NAIA. Often referred to as a professor of the game, Noujaim guides his 'pupils' to greater insights to what the event is all about.

The Larry Lady Officiating Award is given annually by the Association and is named for NAIA supervisor of officials and Heart of America Athletic Conference commissioner Larry Lady. Since attending his first NAIA basketball tournament at the age of ten, Lady has exhibited a passion for the NAIA and now recognizes others who share his commitment to intercollegiate athletics. Noujaim will formally receive the award on Sunday, November 28, 2010, at the 27th Annual NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship in Decatur, Alabama.
