Greetings!
Please read the entire note
When you took your entry level class your instructor might have said, "The match is not over until the paperwork is done". That still holds true!
For those of you who worked them, we hope you enjoyed the opening games with Presidio.
Many of you have emailed about using the new on-line system and are having problems with it. We know you are having problems, it is not working correctly yet, that's why we have not published any of that information to you. Mr. Popejoy is working on it at the moment.
There will be more to come on that later I am sure.
Regardless of the method used, YOU the Referee MUST be 100% accurate and timely in getting your information in to Presidio. There are NO options or excuses for failing to complete the required paperwork.
This year Presidio has made it much easier for you and has provided alternative methods (to USPS mail) that will also track delivery.
Every circuit director now has an email address and a fax number in their information section in the bottom right hand corner.
Regardless of what method you choose to use, you MUST write, on the match report itself, in large prominent letters "REFEREE'S REPORT". I'd suggest writing it at the top of the report and the bottom of the report. I have attached a sample from this weekend that you can look at. Sample Match Report
Here are your options and a few suggestions, you may:
1) Scan and email the Match Report to the Circuit Director; the attached example is scanned and was emailed. This is the most preferred method in my mind. Easy proof of delivery and immediate delivery.
BTW, Leanne says if she can do it anyone can do it. ;-)
2) Fax the completed Match Report to the Circuit Director. I strongly suggest you print a confirmation report from your fax machine and staple that to your match report. Then put that report and proof of delivery in a box somewhere until well after the season ends.
3) Mail, via USPS, the report to the Circuit Director. This is the least favored method as there is the inherent delay in delivery and you have no proof you did it.
Be forewarned Presidio will be tracking reports filed by the referees this season and reporting back to the associations and/or assignors. DO NOT be the referee who did not fulfilled their obligation. If you are, then Leanne and I have to get involved and you don't want that.
I think Presidio's requirement is that reports must be filed within 48 hours. I believe we can do much better than that.
If you have Send-Offs or Serious Injuries in your game I'd like to see you get your report filed no later than 24 hours. If you are mailing your report by USPS then an email to the Circuit Director is appropriate.
Leanne and I are always happy to help you write reports. It is very important to use the proper terminology, facts and statements. We would prefer to review reports from our assignments before they are actually submitted in order to insure clarity and that proper procedures are followed.
I will send, in the next week, a separate email dealing with reports and various scenarios. I think that might be a subject for an upcoming webinar too.
All the best and see you on the Forest Cup fields this weekend!
