HiGreetings!

** Needed to fix the typo in Pat Novak's mailing address, should be 92028. Everything else in this note is the same. Apologies for the duplicate. **

For whatever reason, in the last week we have had lots of inquiries about:
 * 2010 Registration for our association
 * 2010 Registration for CalSouth/USSF
 * Risk Management
 * Continuing education requirements

Below is the bulk of the email (with a few updates) that we sent to you back in the middle of January.

If you have already taken care of all of this then please disregard.

ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP

Your annual member ship dues are due if you have not paid them already. Our dues are collected on the calendar year basis. Your annual dues are $25 for an adult and $10 if you will be under 16 in August. Pat Novak, our treasurer, will collect your dues at any meeting. If you cannot make a meeting please mail your dues to:
  1350 Friends Way, Fallbrook, CA  92028

Unlike any other association we know of, think of all the great benefits you get for such a low fee:
  • Cash On The Field   $$$  :-)
  • NO additional per game fee
  • NO percentage fees of any kind
  • NO Arbiter requirement
  • Monthly meetings and excellent instruction
  • Outstanding assignment opportunities
  • Excellent mentoring and training
We think you'll agree, SDSRA does it right and is worth every penny of this very nominal fee.

A footnote: We regularly assign hundreds of referees during the season; there are well over 400 just on our mailing list. Yet our association, at the moment, only has 83 paid members. This is not an acceptable ratio to accomplish the tasks at hand and cover the expenses.

If you seek and enjoy the benefits of working with us please honor the partnership we have with you by paying this very nominal fee. Unlike some other associations there are no other fees in working with us.

Remember, in addition to our association's regular expenses (meeting rooms, raffle costs, etc.) we are also now committed to paying CalSouth approximately $1,000 annually for instruction. And thus far the instruction has been terrific!

CALSOUTH/USSF REGISTRATION

In order to take the field, as of January 1, 2010, you MUST be registered for the 2010 season with CalSouth/USSF. Do not submit availability to Leanne if you are not.

All of the instructions for registering can be found on the CalSouth Referee Registration page. You register with CalSouth, CalSouth sends your completed package to USSF and USSF sends you your current badge and new law book.

We are here to help you if you run in to problems. Feel free to give me a call (760) 518-0535 or drop me a note at tom@ltbsea.com if you run in to any problems.

LIVE SCAN

This requirement is as inflexible as registration. It MUST get done for you to take the field for any youth games. (Not necessary if you are under 18 for the seasonal year). The deadline is NOW and we have been talking about it for over a year!

Here are the Live Scan Locations for San Diego County, don't forget to bring the required CalSouth Live Scan Form with you. When you have completed the live scan then fax the completed form to Lisa Wolf at CalSouth (714) 441-0715 or scan and email it to her at lwolfs@calsouth.com.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

Yes, there are requirements as outlined by CalSouth on the Referee Re-certification page. These should not be insurmountable; attend a few meetings and get your instruction in. You can attend ANY association's meeting. It does not have to be your home association. CalSouth has a published list of Referee Associations. This instruction WILL make you a better referee.

I am thinking very Nike about this, "Just Do It!"

Now, in the event that you work nights or are a night student then send Leanne or me a note and we'll see what we can work out. There will be exceptions, there always are, handled on a case by case basis.

As always if you have any questions or concerns drop us a note or give us a call.

See you out there!
