WFAA 8 will feature Duncanville on their morning show on Friday, July 8, 2011. The City has been asked to provide as many community members as possible to be in the audience on July 8 at 5:30 a.m. in Victory Plaza. Our goal is to have 100 Duncanville supporters present!
The City of Duncanville, Duncanville Chamber of Commerce, and Duncanville Independent School District are partnering to accomplish this goal as it would be a wonderful opportunity for exposure and positive publicity for the Duncanville community.
Duncanville residents, business owners, and supporters are asked to join us as members of the audience for the Duncanville Day feature. Audience members will need to meet outside the WFAA 8 studios in Victory Plaza located at 3030 Olive Street, Dallas, TX (next to the American Airlines Center and the W Hotel) from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. During the show, the anchors will mention Duncanville and will come outside to speak to key members of the community. We are asking audience members to wear red, white, and blue. Transportation will be provided for those that would like to commute with the group.

| Texas Department of Public Safety Urges Texans to Help Prevent Wildfires | |
The Texas Department of Public Safety is urging Texans to use caution and avoid situations that could cause wildfires to break out, especially during the July 4 th holiday period.
As the statewide drought continues, concerns are building that even more fires will break out in Texas. An estimated 90 percent of all Texas wildfires are caused by human activity. The greatest single cause is when burning debris is not properly contained and sparks or burning trash blow into the air.
To help prevent fires:
· Be careful when pulling off a road or driving into a field. Hot catalytic converters can ignite dry vegetation.
· Avoid burning trash. Even a barrel covered with a screen can allow a spark to escape, igniting nearby dry vegetation.
· Do not use fireworks during holidays.
· If you smoke in your car, extinguish cigarettes in vehicle ashtrays. Never toss a cigarette out of a car window, and don't put cigarettes out on the ground.
· Keep a fire extinguisher and water handy when working outdoors with equipment that gets hot, or involves sparks, such as welding equipment. Water down outdoor work areas in advance if possible.
For more information on how to protect your home or ranch from wildfires, visit the DPS website. |
