Duncanville to Host Festival in Duncanville THIS Saturday! |
|
 Live music, a clown show, folklorico dancing, ZUMBA, face painting, arts and crafts, food, bounce houses, merchandise booths and more! Festival in Duncanville will be a day full of fun and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy!
Festival in Duncanville will be held Saturday, September 18 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Armstrong Park, 315 E. Wheatland Rd. in Duncanville.

| National Take Back Prescription Drug Disposal Program | |
Duncanville residents will be able to turn in their unused or expired medication for safe disposal on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as part of National Take-Back Day. Prescriptions can be dropped off at the Duncanville Police Department located at 203 E. Wheatland Rd.
National Take-Back Day provides an opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted, or unused pharmaceutical controlled substances and other medications for destruction. These drugs are a potential source of supply for illegal use and an unacceptable risk to public health and safety.
This one-day effort is intended to bring national focus to the issue of increasing pharmaceutical controlled substance abuse.
- The program is anonymous.
- Prescription and over the counter solid dosage medications, i.e. tablets and capsules accepted.
- Intra-venous solutions, injectables, and needles will not be accepted.
- Illicit substances such as marijuana or methamphetamine are not a part of this initiative.

| National Night Out Scheduled for October 5! | |
The National Night Out Event is scheduled for October 5, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the D.L. Hopkins Senior Center, 206 James Collins Blvd. National Night Out is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW).
 Last year's National Night Out campaign involved citizens, law enforcement agencies, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations and local officials from over 15,000 communities from all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities and military bases worldwide. In all, over 36 million people participated in National Night Out 2009.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. At this year's, National Night Out in Duncanville, local and state agencies will be passing out assorted crime prevention materials and information. Duncanville neighborhoods can contact Officer Doug Sick to participate in the event and get to know their neighbors better and promote their neighborhood. |
| Council Seeks Citizens for Boards & Commissions | |  The Duncanville City Council is currently accepting applications from citizens interested in volunteering their service on one of the City's boards or commission. To be eligible to serve, one must be a resident, qualified voter of the City of Duncanville, and not delinquent in the payment of ad valorem taxes or in the payment of fines to the City. Current vacancies will be filled on the following boards: Park and Recreation Advisory Board, Sign Control Board, Certified Retirement Community Oversight Committee and Civil Service Commission.
