The City of Duncanville, Duncanville Independent School District and the Duncanville Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to host"Duncanville's Urban Legend" Event featuring American Idol finalist Tim Urban on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at Duncanville High School Panther Stadium, located at 900 W. Camp Wisdom Road.

Duncanville resident, Tim Urban, rose to stardom on American Idol Season 9 after reaching #7 of the Top 10 and recently finished touring the country as part of the 2010 American Idol Tour.

Urban has come full circle, giving back to his hometown fans that supported him during his American Idol run with a performance. Urban will sing the National Anthem and perform several songs during halftime at the Duncanville football game season opener against Garland High School.

The halftime show will also feature the Duncanville High Hats drill team and the award-winning Duncanville High School band. Urban will sign autographs immediately following the halftime show.

Even after all his success, Urban is humbled by recognition from his hometown.

"I am deeply honored that the city I grew up in and have so many amazing memories in wants to honor me. It's something I will always be grateful for no matter what happens from here on," said Urban.

Urban, the sixth of 10 children, began playing the guitar at age 13.  At 16, he began his career singing and dancing in a musical at Cedar Valley Community College. He went on to win first place at the Lancaster's Got Talent Competition before auditioning for American Idol. Urban hopes to release his first CD in November.
