Director's View
A staff member popped into my office the other day to share a story. A mother had asked for some author recommendations for her son, who was somewhat of a reluctant reader, so the staff member gave her some titles and authors that she thought the boy would like. Later that week, the staff member ran into the mother at a store and the mother could not say enough about how much her son was enjoying the recommended titles - she was so pleased that she didn't have to force her son to read, he was doing it on his own and enjoying it. You often hear that libraries change lives - this story is just the beginning to how an enjoyment of reading will take this child to wonderful places he wouldn't have gone otherwise. Talk about a community change agent - the library changes lives for the better every single day. Trish Burns, Director

Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey through his Son's Addiction
by David Sheff
Appearance by Award Winning Author David Sheff with a special visit by his son Nic, author of "Tweak"
Thursday, April 15 7:00 p.m. Temple Theatre ~ Free Admission ~
"Beautiful Boy," David Sheff's heartbreaking account of his son's addiction to crystal meth and the devastating effect it had on his family, is honest and deeply moving. It is a story far too relevant in today's society. "Tweak" is Nic Sheff's unflinching look at his own addiction. Join David and Nic as they tell us about what they faced --- how they found the strength to never give up, and the courage to begin recovery and healing.
David Sheff is an accomplished journalist. A contributing editor to Playboy, he has also written for The New York Times, Wired, Fortune and Rolling Stone. His other books include "All We are Saying: The Last Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono."
One Book, One Community Book Discussion Groups Take advantage of this opportunity to join a book discussion group about Beautiful Boy. Your ideas and the insightful comments of others will enrich your reading.
