The Seminole Prevention Coalition's goals are to encourage  measurable downward trends in delinquency and school absenteeism, and youth tobacco and alcohol use and to turn the tide in other areas, such as teenage motherhood, domestic abuse, drug arrests and unemployment.

The coalition will report annually on a broad range of indicators in our Community Agenda Snapshot, keeping us all informed on where we are and where we should be going. The 2009 report, available for download on our Web site's home page, contains some surprising findings. Did you know:

  • Of 66,599 hospital emergency-department visits in 2007, more than 14,000 were self paid (no insurance) and more than 4,000 were paid for by a charity?
  • The diabetes rate in Seminole County is lower than that for Florida as a whole, but the increase from year to year closely mirrors that of the state?
