FUTURES Sends Community Leaders Back to School
What do U.S. Tennis Association Florida's executive director,
the marketing director of a prominent CPA firm and a high-level supervisor with
Florida Power & Light have in common?
They are all participants in the Educator Intern Program, sponsored by
FUTURES Foundation. This month, they will join with three other local
business people and three Volusia County educators to get an up-close and
personal look at how the school district operates.
The Educator Interns spend a full day
shadowing district and school administrators. A debriefing session with
Superintendent Margaret Smith and other FUTURES board members concludes the
experience.
For more information visit www.FuturesVolusia.org or call Beth Butera at
(386) 255-6475, Ext. 50730.

Give A Teacher A Classroom Grant In Your Company Name
In December, FUTURES will be presenting approximately 100 Volusia County teachers with checks to fund innovative classroom projects that would not otherwise be covered under the current school budgets. FUTURES has sponsorship opportunities that will allow your company or organization to award a grant to a deserving classroom teacher in the name of your business. Align your organization with one of our grant categories, including reading, math, literacy, science, technology, environmental, health & wellness, special needs and many more. Contact Beth Butera, FUTURES Director, for more information at (386) 255-6475 ext. 50730.

FUTURES School Matching Grants Help Low Achievers
Low-achieving students
in kindergarten through eighth grade at nine Volusia County schools will be
tutored in reading, math, science and writing - all because of their own
fund raising efforts and School Matching Grants. The $30,500 raised so far for
this special instruction qualifies them for a 100-percent match from the state
through the FUTURES Foundation. Now we have $61,000 for these beneficial programs!
