Hello Members & Friends,

The DSAV Family Grant applications have been reviewed by our independent grant committee.  Approval letters and checks made out to providers have been mailed.  Be sure to read below about this great program.

We are happy to soon be setting some "regular" hours of operation at the DSAV Center for Success.  Click here to see when we are open.  We now have a mailslot in the office door, so should you need to drop something (no too large) off, slip it in the slot and we'll get it.

Educators and parents are registering for the eReadingPro workshops, a few spaces are still available, please RSVP here.

14 TEAMS have already registered and are going strong. How can you help with Buddy Walk of the Valley 2010?  Be sure to read below to find out.   The Buddy Wall is back along with lots of new entertainment.  We hope you are making plans to join us for the best Buddy Walk of the Valley yet!

Navigating the supports and services our children need can be daunting.  Family First Supports and Consulting, LLC is available to help families in Western PA with supports coordination as well as helping families in Ohio with the IEP process.  See Below for details.

As you are receiving this e-news, members of the DSAV are presenting at the National Buddy Walk convention.  Not only are we sharing our experiences, but we will no doubt bring home some great ideas for future years of the Buddy Walk of the Valley!

Enjoy the Merry Month of May and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Over $4300 distributed in DSAV Family Grants in March

The Down Syndrome Association of the Valley was thrilled to award 20 local DSAV families up to $250 each for medical expenses, therapies and activities outlined in the 2010 grant application.  An on-going goal of the DSAV is to offer support and resources to people with Down syndrome in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania through the family grant program.  In keeping with the DSAV mission, the family grants provide assistance to anything that directly improves the quality of life of individuals with Down syndrome.  Grants were awarded to assist with therapy sessions, to attend integrated swim or dance classes and to help families with medical expenses to name a few.  The funding of this program is through the generous donations and support from the DSAV general fund.  We are pleased to put back into the valley some of what the valley has so graciously given to us.  Thank you to the independent grant selection committee for reviewing the applications and making the recommendations.
