Hello Members & Friends, 
 
Our World Down Syndrome Day celebration is this Saturday, March 20th at the Center for Success.  Starting at 10:00, the World Down Syndrome Day proclamation from Congressman Tim Ryan will be presented followed by two great speakers.  See below for details and to register.  Be sure to watch the news on WFMJ-Channel 21 on Friday, March 19th.  They will be running a story on our World Down Syndrome Day celebration!
 
DSAV Family Night at Austintown Bounce is scheduled for Thursday, April 22nd.  Gather the family and come out for some fun, food and socializing.  Admission is just $1 per person, DSAV is picking up the remaining admission fee.  Pizza Joe's pizza will be provided by Mr. Sam Chicarelli at 6:30 and admission for kids includes a drink.  Be sure to register so we know how much pizza to order!
 
Our LAMP learning sessions are the fourth Friday of each month at the Center for Success.  This is an opportunity for parents to review reading and math materials for use at the Center for Success or to borrow for use at home.  Stop in between 11:00am and 1:00pm. 
 
DSAV Moms enjoyed our JAM session at the Austintown Panera in March.  Photos were passed around and moms in all stages and ages came out.  April's JAM will be held on Tuesday, April 13th from 6:00 - 7:30 at the Panera on Elm Rd. in Warren.  See below for JAM schedule 2010.
 
We are pleased to have the support of our State Support Team Region 5 for two eReadingPro workshops in May.  The workshops will be held at the SST-5 meeting room at the Eastwood mall.  Make plans now to attend either May 6th or May 7th
 
Buddy Walk materials are available for pick-up at the Center for Success.  On Saturday, March 20th following our WDSD program, we will provide some training on setting up your Buddy Walk team page on the web.
 
Don't forget, the Family Grant application  deadline is March 31st.

The DSAV Family Grant application deadline has been extended until March 31st. 
 
DSAV families may apply for up to $250 in grant funds for inclusive programs, medical or therapeutic needs or to attend Ds related conferences or programs.
 
 
Applications will be reviewed by an independent grant committee.  Approval letters and checks made out to the provider will be mailed within 30 days following the deadline.

LAMP learning sessions are held the 4th Friday of every month at the DSAV Center for Success ®
 
Utilizing the following resources:
  • See & Learn Language
  • Love & Learning Software
  • Numicon Math
  • Lakeshore Learning Books
  • Down syndrome Foundation literacy materials
 
The LAMP learning sessions are ideal for preschool and elementary age children or older children with Ds who may struggle with reading.   Parents, with or without their children, are welcome to stop in during these sessions to learn about, review and try the LAMP materials as well as explore other lending library resources at the DSAV Center for Success®.
 
Learning Sessions are open from 11:00am - 1:00pm
