The DSAV Center for Success is about to open, but we need your help to accomplish the DSAV vision and mission. See if there are areas below where you might be interested in volunteering with us. E-mail us with your questions or to help!
- DSAV Office - individuals who possess computer knowledge (IE: Excel, Publisher, Contribute, Photoshop, MS office), as well as excellent administrative and communication skills.
- Education - certified teachers, paraprofessionals or parents with a strong interest in education to help get the Parents & Schools in Partnership program underway. Healthcare - licensed medical professionals to help implement our Healthcare Partnership program with physicians, health departments and nurses throughout the valley.
- Hospital Liaison - any DSAV member willing to keep in regular contact with area hospital maternity and social work departments ensuring our New Parent Packs are in place.

TULIP® Parent Program - Parents who complete the training program will be available for phone calls or visits with new or expectant parents who receive a Ds diagnosis.

Community Connections - requires the successful completion of the Community Connections training. Leaders host a monthly meeting for other DSAV parents in their geographic area covering various topics and needs. |

The Down Syndrome Association recieved a $10,000 grant from the Hine Memorial Fund through the Youngstown Foundation. These funds are specifically designated to assist us with the opening and running of the DSAV Center for Success.
The DSAV board extends our deepest gratitude to the Hine Memorial Fund and the Youngstown Foundation Distribution committees for selecting our organization to receive these funds.

On August 19, 2009, DSAV was one of 10 community organizations to receive funds from the Liberty Walmart Super Center grand opening community fund.
A check in the amount of $2,500 was presented at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

The Living Lord Lutheran church in Howland selected the Down Syndrome Association of the Valley to receive their 2009 Mission Endowment Fund Financial Gift Award.
DSAV Director of Development, Chris Donadio attended both church services on Sunday, September 27th to receive the $500 gift.
Thank you to the Endowment fund committee for recognizing the work we do and financially supporting our mission.

CONGRATULATIONS to the National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC) for the launch of their new and updated website.
The NDSC site offers direct links to their most important programs, but now also has added features and drop down menus to make it all the more user friendly.

2009 Family Grants
We are happy to announce that the DSAV Family Grant program has distributed nearly $10,000 to our members for inclusive activities and healthcare needs.
We are grateful to the CVS Caremarks Community grant program for providing us with $5,000 toward our family grant program.
