Did you hear?....

...We are opening our NEW office!

The DSAV Center for Success is located at 945 Boardman-Canfield Rd., Suite 12, Boardman, OH 44512.
 
Located at Parkside Place, this facility of 1,300 square feet will serve as our office and also be where DSAV meetings and programs will be held. 
 
In celebration of National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, we will have our official Grand Opening in October !

To Megan Freeze, who took 12th place at the SuperKids Soap Box derby championship 
in Akron.
 
Way to go Megan! 
 
Make plans to join one of the area Soapbox derby races next year.  We'll keep you posted.
 
Family Grants Grants
 Family Grants Availble for DSAV members!

Grants are available for the second half of 2009 for DSAV members. 
 
Through the CVS Caremarx community grant program and DSAV funds, families are invited to apply for up to five hundred ($500) per family per year for inclusive programs or activities such as such as Boy/Girl Scouts, Gymboree, ballet, swimming, dance, therapy sessions etc. These activities must be open to all children with and without disabilities.

ShowBe Beautiful, Be Yourself...
 
a fundraiser introducing the Global Down Syndrome Foundation. This non-profit corporation is dedicated to significantly improving the lives of people with Down syndrome by supporting basic research, clinical research and clinical care.
 
Established in 2009, and originating from start-up funds made possible by the Anna and John J. Sie Foundation, the primary focus is to support the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome. The Linda Crnic Institute is the first organization in the US with the mission to eradicate the medical and cognitive ill effects associated with Down syndrome through basic and clinical research and through clinical care.
The Foundation intends to continue its successful Be Beautiful, Be Yourself Jet Set Fashion Show fundraiser that highlights models with Down syndrome, and to co-host similar fashion show fundraisers in other states and countries. Learn more about this year's event

Our Mission is to provide support, advocacy resources, education and opportunity for those with Down syndrome and their families.  Representing the needs of people with Down syndrome and their families to improve quality of life, preserve rights and advance their interests, thereby enhancing their status as citizens and enabling maximum independence and participation in the community.
