| What is the News Update?
In an effort to minimize the number of e-mails you receive from DSAV, we will periodically send the News Update. It will be a compilation of notices, programs and initiatives that we receive and will pass on to you in one update rather than as each item comes in.
The items included in the News Update will cover a variety of topics to keep our member families up to date on current happenings that affect those with Down syndrome or the disability community in general.
Local, regional or national conference information may be inlcuded as well as policy or advocacy information that you should be aware of.
Not every item will pertain to every family nor does the DSAV necessarily endorse everything included.
Contact and information details will be listed and any questions should be directed to those names or links included.

| NDSC & NDSS request your help |

The National Down Syndrome Congress and National Down Syndrome Society are members of APRAIS, the Alliance to Prevent Restraint, Aversive Interventions and Seclusion, which is a coalition of 17 national disability advocacy organizations. We are conducting this survey of parents and guardians to establish the extent to which restraint, seclusion and aversive procedures have been used with students with disabilities and special needs (whether served under IDEA or under section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act) in public or private schools or in residential facilities.
Please note: If you have completed any previous questionnaires on this topic or provided other information, the information you reported will not be included as a part of these results. You must complete this survey for your responses to be included.
The survey will be available for completion until October 12th, 2009. Approximately five to ten minutes will be required to complete the survey. TO PARTICIPATE IN THE STUDY, CLICK ON THE LINK:
