Home Builders Expand Subdivisions  

Woods Hollow

David Homes, an Amherst-based developer, will continue the build-out of Lockport's Woods Hollow, with the construction of an additional cul-de-sac to enable the construction of another 16 homes in the South Lockport 60-unit subdivision. Ryan Homes and Cimato Construction are also undertaking a 25-lot expansion of the Heather Woods subdivision, located near the intersection of Rapids and Beattie Roads.  

Energy Incentives

Exel Logistics, located in the Lockport Industrial Park, has completed a project designed to reduce its annual energy costs by more than $100,000 and decrease energy consumption by more than 620,000 KW hours; the Exel project was aided in part by the  New York State Energy Research and Development AuthorityNYSEG has also launched a rebate program for nonresidential electricity and natural gas customers who install qualifying energy efficient equipment

KFC, Kentucky Fried Chicken, will renovate an existing building at 5682 South Transit Road for its Lockport outlet. Scheduled to open in August 2011, the new location will feature a 2,500 SF restaurant with drive-thru. KFC has previously operated an eatery on NY 31 at 494 West Avenue.

Lockport Adds Banquet/Event Center 

 

MacKenzie Hall & David's Grove has recently opened on the Transit Road Business Corridor, and offers groups another choice of meeting and event venue, according to owner Ron Mielke. Mackenzie Hall, located at 6599 South Transit Road, features seating for up to 150 people plus audio visual services. Equipped with a kitchen and handicap restroom facilities, Mackenzie Hall has already accommodated over 50 events, including regular meetings of Business Networking, Inc and Transitions Lifestyle. In addition, David's Grove, located immediately adjacent to Mackenzie Hall, offers a more casual setting for outdoor events. Kistner Concrete, a manufacturer of precast concrete products, has been awarded a patent to construct arched bridges. Kistner, which is headquartered in East Pembroke, operates a precast concrete manufacturing facility on Hinman Road in the Town of Lockport. Kistner specializes in the construction of utility, communication and electrical vaults, box culverts and storm water treatment systems.
