Spartech Polycom in the IDA Park |
Spartech Polycom, once a major supplier of the General Motors Lockport site, has been approved for a five-year payment in lieu of tax agreement (PILOT) as an inducement to resume manufacturing operations. The $4 million Spartech Polycom facility originally began operations in the Lockport Industrial Park in 1986, but had ceased manufacturing in December, 2009 due in part to declining business at the Lockport GM facility. If Spartech is successful in concluding contracts with General Motors and other potential customers for the production of polypropylene products, an initial four-person workforce could be increased to eight employees. |
