Future Looks Bright for
Super Walmart in Lockport

The uncertainty about the construction of a new Super Walmart in the Town of Lockport was resolved with the February 23 ruling by the New York State Court of Appeals. The Court of Appeals refused to hear the appeal from "Lockport Smart Growth", which had delayed the proposed 185,000 SF retail development since December, 2007 through a series of lawsuits. The Court of Appeals' decision effectively ends the lawsuit against the project.
The new Super Walmart will be constructed on the site of the former Lockport Mall at 5727 South Transit Road. The Lockport Mall will be demolished, and the BonTon Department Store, which remains open, will be remodeled consistent with the design for the Super Walmart.
La Galera (Niagara Falls Location)
Lockport has welcomed a new eatery to the Transit Road Business Corridor. La Galera, which features authentic Mexican food, has opened at the site of the former John & Mary's Subs at 5690 South Transit Road. La Galera is owned by Jose Montes, who operates another La Galera on Niagara Falls Boulevard, near Fashion Outlets in Niagara Falls.
South Lockport Medical Campus Expands

Developer David Marotta is in the process of constructing two additional professional office buildings within the South Lockport Medical Campus on Snyder Drive. The South Lockport Medical Campus is currently the location of professional offices of Dr. Julie Donohue and Artemis Center for Health & Wellness and the office of Dr. Sam Mozumdar.
