Greetings!
Can't you just feel Fall in the air? I love seeing the leaves beginning to turn. Everything has a new look - - and I'd like to provide you, in this month's newsletter, a new look at what HR Strategy Group can offer you and your company. Human Resources is a broad and often confusing area for business owners so I will try to spell it out a bit more tangibly in my article below. Then in the Compensation Corner this month, I will discuss a growing trend in the workforce, virtual workers. How do you work with them, manage them and compensate them. I'd also like to introduce our newest monthly segment called Spot Check. Our new partnership with National Crime Search now allows us to provide you with instant, affordable and comprehensive background investigations, access to E-Verify, and much more. Check this section out each month for a new tidbit in this important area.
Lastly - a couple of personnel changes have happened. First, many of you may remember Cheryl Brown, J.D., who has worked with HRSG for several years. I'm pleased to announce that my good friend & colleague Cheryl has recently joined the Howard County based law firm of Davis, Agnor, Rapaport and Skalny, LLC ("DARS"). DARS is well regarded and primarily represents businesses and individuals in a broad spectrum of business-related legal services. Please know that this is a great opportunity for Cheryl and we had been planning this career move for quite some time. What does HR Strategy Group REALLY Do?
Everyone has heard of "Human Resources" but often even business owners don't truly understand what that title encompasses. One definition is - - "the department of a business or organization that deals with the administration, management, and training of personnel." Very broad, and most likely something you need - - but you're just not quite sure how. HR Strategy Group, LLC's mission is to assist clients with their human resources and employment matters. So let's break that down to what it could mean to you! Here are some examples:
1) You need to have a very challenging and possibly emotional discussion with an employee or colleague. How do you handle it? Amy Polefrone, president of HR Strategy Group, provides advice, role playing and will also participate with you in your meeting with the employee.
2) A long time employee is no longer producing as he should and needs to be terminated. HRSG will walk you through the process, ensure all the required documentation is in place, and will then help guide you in potential options for ending the employment relationship.
3) You finally are ready to fill a new position but you don't have it well defined and really don't trust your interviewing skills. HRSG will develop your job description, compensation plan, advertise for the position, perform initial phone interviews, in-house interviews and write up your job offer letter.
4) It's "that" time of year again - performance appraisals. You don't really have a formalized process in place and your employees notice this. HRSG will help develop the appropriate performance appraisal system that makes sense for your organization. .
5) Your staff is increasing in size and you need to train some key employees to take over supervisory roles.
