Welcome to HR Strategy Group
Greetings!
February? You'd never know it! But for those of us who love spring and warmer weather - we can only say Thank You!
So while you may be daydreaming watching the daffodils come up, perhaps you can shift your attention to your employees and how to provide them with timely and comprehensive feedback on their performance. In the article, Performance Appraisals: Tips for Success!, we review the key points to consider as you prepare for delivering successful performance appraisals.
Then, in our Compensation Corner, we offer a set of comprehensive checklists designed to help you with compensation planning and salary benchmarking. Sound a little overwhelming? Read on and be sure to contact us if you encounter questions or hit a bump in the road.
Finally, wishing you more of these very pleasant weeks until spring officially comes. And please call me if we can be of assistance to your company in planning for, preparing and delivering performance appraisals to your staff in 2012.

Performance Appraisals: Tips for Success!
- Collaborate! Performance Appraisals are done in collaboration WITH an employee. Performance Appraisals should not be done TO an employee.
- Plan, Plan, Plan! Preparation is key for successful evaluations.
- Obtain Feedback on employee's performance from: employee, employee's peers, agents/underwriters, your colleagues
- Evaluate Fairly the employee based on the Work Objectives and Performance Measures! Use the entire rating year in mind, not just the past 1-2 months.
- 3 Roles of a Coach! Remember the 3 roles of a coach: Clarify expectations, train the employee, hold the employee accountable. As a COACH, you can't make anyone do anything.
