Providing Human Resource Solutions at the Speed of YOUR Business!

Greetings! ,

We've had a great and fun time these past few months discussing generational differences in the workplace.  Thank you for letting us know that these articles are helpful (and amusing!) to you.

In the last of three articles, we finish The Generational Gap Series by offering offering career tips for the Millennials & Generation Y (those in their 20's & early 30's) as they enter the interview process.  Hopefully these tips will get some great generational discussion happening about appropriate interview behavior and success tips for Millenials and Gen Y-ers in the workforce.

Lastly, Thanksgiving is that special season for expressing gratitude - and we at HR Strategy Group are so grateful to our friends, colleagues, and clients who make our work fulfilling, fun, and extremely interesting.  Just when we think we have heard & seen it all, you share with us your complex workplace issues and invite us to be a part of the solution - it's a trust we take very seriously.  We are humbled and grateful for the confidence you place in us.

Happy Thanksgiving to you & your family!

Best,
  Amy

The Generational Gap:  Career Tips for Millennials & Generation Y
Amy Polefrone and Kim Grounds  / HR Strategy Group, LLC

As our population ages, generational differences seem to magnify, especially in the workplace.  Baby Boomers do not understand the Millennials, and Gen Ys feel like the Gen X's are way behind the times.   Articles are often geared for Gen X-ers and Baby Boomers giving advice on how to best interact with the younger generations.  So for a change of pace, this article is intended to provide career and job seeker tips specifically for the Millennials & Gen Y-ers, as they interview and interact with the "older" generations (Gen X and Baby Boomers) in the workplace.  Gen Y-ers and Millennials - please consider these tips "helpful career advice" from us older and ahem, more seasoned workplace veterans.

Tip #1: Avoid multi-tasking, turn off your phone, and do not email, text or answer calls while in an interview. You should recognize that your means of communications are significantly different than that of Gen X-ers and Boomers.
