Providing Human Resource Solutions at the Speed of YOUR Business!

Greetings!

As we pass through these rather gray days we're in this September, we can all too easily fall into old habits and routines.  And one of those is applying stereotypes to individuals, colleagues, job candidates, and bosses.   Bottom line, this is a dangerous path to follow but one all too easily trod by many.  In this issue, we will discuss what these all too frequently thrown around labels mean and help you understand that acknowledging each is a critical step for successful managers and businesses.

Also, please find an invitation to a very special Entrepreneurs Exchange Member Appreciation Event - an annual event dedicated to thanking the members and and acknowledging the relationships formed through EE. I hope you are able to join me on October 27th!

Until then, keep your Gen X's, Y's and Z's straight and happy Fall!

Best,
  Amy

Generational Gap:  "Can't we all just get along?"

"He just doesn't have the same work ethic!"  "She's stuck in the old world."  "Gen X, Millennial, Baby Boomers - it's all just a bunch of labels."  In fact, however, understanding generational gaps and differences has the great potential for helping to ensure business success.  As our current workforce ages, a huge number of people will be retiring in the next several years and a far smaller population is available to fill those positions.  And that population, coming from a different generation, thinks, lives, works and simply is different.  Smart leaders acknowledge this and do what they can to make their environments more suitable and desirable for the "younger" potential employees while working to ensure the "boomers" can successfully interact and manage these incoming workers.

As usually is the case, knowledge is power - so let's start by defining some of these labels - while also acknowledging:

A generation is shaped by the events and circumstances its members experience at certain phases in life, beginning with childhood. Further  . . .
