Greetings!    

Labor Day is just around the corner so yes; summer is coming to a close.  However there is always a renewed sense of something "new" this time of the year as kids head back to school and the season starts to change.  We all have the opportunity to go "back to basics" and that also is the case within our businesses.  Now would be a great time to REVISIT OUR GOALS and review how we did last quarter.  What needs to be tweaked?  What needs a major revision?

You may find that hiring additional employees is the next step in your business plan and this month's newsletter will be INDISPENSABLE to you during this phase.  We explain what a BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION is all about and why it is a critical step within the hiring process.  Sounds ominous?  Perhaps, but this is an important part of protecting your employer interests and assets.

Background Investigations:  Sounds Ominous?  Maybe, but Critical!

Background investigation is a generic term that includes research into the history of or current information about a job candidate.  It is the primary tool available to employers for obtaining information about a potential applicant other than what the candidate actually says.  It covers one area of the job screening process and is used to determine if something such as a criminal record, a poor credit history, or a misrepresentation of educational or employment history, will make a candidate ineligible for a job position.  Depending on the nature of the position and the pool of candidates, this may be a vital step.  You should consider using a background investigation tool to:

  • Protect employers from negligent hiring claims
  • Protect employers . . . because "what you don't know may hurt you"
  • Maximize productivity in newly hired employees since past performance is a strong indicator of future performance!

Entrepreneur's Exchange - September Events

As a member of Entrepreneur's Exchange, I have found their events each month to be interesting, relevant and attended by a large number of local business owners and entrepreneurs.  Networking is always a key element at each of these gatherings so I'd like to invite you to join me a one of their September events as we kick off the fall season!
