Greetings!

Hello and welcome to this edition of the Avanti Engineering, Inc. newsletter

It's been a while since our last newsletter and we have been busy making parts and concentrating on improvements in various areas. Our current business status remains busy in most departments with some deficiency in volume work under 7/8" diameter. All other departments have decent back logs of work and trending towards improvement. Automotive, Heavy equipment, hydraulics & fluid power, plumbing, and electronic components have the most demand.

Copper & brass prices have seen a slight decrease the last month or so. This is good news for these products & components. Hopefully this trend will continue although the reason for the softening is due to demand being weaker. We will continue to monitor this market and notify you accordingly.

We have begun utilizing our new automated parts washing equipment with a very high degree of success. We are now able to provide completely clean & dry product to our customers which should no doubt help with reduced handling and better performance throughout any and all assembly's while maintaining adequate shelf life. We hope you have noticed a positive difference in the cleanliness of the parts we ship you now versus before. Any feedback relative to parts cleanliness would be appreciated.

In closing I would just like to say thank you for choosing Avanti Engineering, Inc. We know you have many choices in supplying your machined components and we are grateful for the opportunities we get. Quality and great customer service is a top priority here and we want to make sure you have a positive experience using Avanti Engineering as your supplier of choice. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks again.

Manufacturing may help fight off new U.S. recession

WASHINGTON, Oct 3 (Reuters) - U.S. factories grew more quickly in September as production and hiring increased, suggesting that manufacturing would help keep the economy from slipping into a new recession.

Other data on Monday offered more good news for the troubled U.S. economy, with strong demand for new motor vehicles putting sales on track to surpass August's rate, and construction spending unexpectedly rebounding in August. "That hardly sounds like an economy flat on its back.

The economy is still moving forward. But no one should confuse direction with speed," said Joel Naroff, chief economist at Naroff Economic Advisors in Holland, Pennsylvania. September marked the 26th straight month of expansion in a sector that has shouldered the broader economic recovery, and the factory report implied that an outright contraction in output would probably be avoided. Read More

Rupee depreciation to cause hike in steel prices: Sources
Published on Fri, Oct 14, 2011

Steel prices are set to see a rise despite the fall in the input prices. Coaking coal and iron-ore prices have come down in the last one month, but the rupee has depreciated a lot thereby adding to the costs, reports CNBC-TV18's Swati Khandelwal quoting sources.

When CNBC-TV18 spoke to most of the steel majors, they pointed out that they are likely to see a price hike. In fact, they are going to increase the price in a range of USD 500-800 per tonne on an account of the fact that we are seeing input cost or raw material cost coming down in the last one month or so.

If you see coaking coal, the prices from USD 300 a tonne have now come down to USD 285 a tonne in the last one month, and similarly for iron-ore, the prices have come down by almost 4.5% in the one month to about USD 180 a tonne. So, on one hand, we are seeing the input prices coming down for the raw materials.

However, the rupee has depreciated by almost 10% against the dollar, adding to the worry of steel companies. Hence, this will result in a price hike, which is expected around early November. But that will also not really improve the profitability of steel companies for this second quarter.
