Precision CNC Turned Parts

Greetings! ,

Avanti is growing and we're back to the numbers before the recession.  We're seeing a large influx of orders and gearing up production to accommodate our customers' needs.  We are doing everything possible to upgrade each department's efficiency with better equipment and the increased training of our personnel.  The following information will show what we're doing to help achieve our constant goal of Complete Customer Satisfaction.

In this month's news we have "machinery upgrades" as our topic of the month. In the last 4 weeks Avanti has upgraded our older equipment in a few different areas. In some cases, we have added machinery and capacity.

For starters, we now have three more 1-1/4" capacity New Britain six spindle bar machines to handle more medium to larger volume components. These machines are identical to some pre-existing equipment that will allow us to handle additional multi spindle bar work in the 1.25 round capacity and under.

We have also added three more 1.25 round single spindle Brown & Sharpe screw machines, including servo motor capability. This allows us the ability to run more complex parts in lower volumes without giving up screw machine speed. Plus, we are able to reduce our tooling cost and improve our setup time. This should be a nice improvement for shorter run parts.

We purchased another Citizen M32 13 Axis Swiss CNC machining lathe with a capacity up to 1.25" round.   It will complete your complex machined components requiring close tolerance deep hole drilled & turned parts.  This machine also produces parts requiring superb micro finish, tough material, overlapping of operations including back finishing and speed to accomplish high volume runs. This is an area where we see continued growth, and I'm sure this machine will book up fast. Some of the parts we run on these machines are choke tubes, valve casings, long hydraulic stems, spools, and any custom made lengthy components.

Lastly, we have upgraded and replaced one of our older CNC lathes with a newer model which handles large capacity bar work up to 51 mm or 2.0 inches and offers faster cycle times and sub-spindle capability. As a result, we will be able to complete more complex and larger parts in less time which will ultimately make us more competitive and reduce our lead time. Please inquire about details on Larger CNC machining lathe capability.

Raw Material

Brass continues to climb out of control, and all we can do is hope that there is some moderation here.  "Most precious metals are rising which make us very concerned about the Copper market (61.5% composition of Brass)".   We appreciate all of our customers helping us absorb the increases with material sur-charges.  You can monitor this situation by going to www.chasebrass.com and look at their graph and the current letter with the $0.12/per pound increase as of 11/8/10. Steel appears to be moderated and we have actually seen a slight decrease in scrap surcharges! Don't know why this is but I'm not complaining.

Thank you for reading my monthly news letter and I hope you found it informative.  And we can't Thank You enough for your business!

(Tempe, Arizona) - Economic activity in the manufacturing sector expanded in October for the 15th consecutive month, and the overalleconomy grew for the 18th consecutive month, say the nation's supply executives in the latest Manufacturing ISM Report On Business®.

The report was issued today by Norbert J. Ore, CPSM, C.P.M., chair of the Institute for Supply Management Manufacturing Business Survey Committee. "The manufacturing sector grew during October, with both new orders and production making significant gains. Since hitting a peak in April, the trend for manufacturing has been toward slower growth. However, this month's report signals a continuation of the recovery that began 15 months ago, and its strength raises expectations for growth in the balance of the quarter. Survey respondents note the recovery in autos, computers and exports as key drivers of this growth. Concerns about inventory growth are lessened by the improvement in new orders during October. With 14 of 18 industries reporting growth in October, manufacturing continues to outperform the other sectors of the economy."
