These special 90-minute docent led tours will highlight Christmas customs and decorations of the 19th century.  The museums take on a special glow at the holiday season, and these tours are the perfect way to usher in the holidays by learning about the origin of many of our most beloved customs.  The Clarke House will feature decorations of the 1850s, when the celebration of Christmas as we know it today was just starting to take root.  The Glessner House will feature decorations of the late 19th century, including a live Christmas tree shipped from the Glessner's former summer estate in New Hampshire, filled with glass and paper ornaments, and the dining room table set for the elaborate holiday feast.  After the tour, participants are invited to stroll over to the landmark Wheeler Mansion (now a boutique hotel) to view their beautifully restored rooms decorated for the holidays and to enjoy light refreshments.

Business License Renewals
Changes coming!

As of January 1, 2012, all City of Chicago business license renewals must be processed online.  An "Online Business License Renewal Tutorial" workshop will be held on Friday, December 23rd, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in room 805 of City Hall.  The workshop will consist of a demonstration on how to use the Online Business License Renewal System and a discussion about the various things to keep in mind when renewing your business license.  The City states the "online license renewal process is fast, easy and secure."

Grant Park Conservancy Meeting
Wednesday, November 7th @ 6pm

Location: Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park, 200 N. Columbus, Gold Room, 2nd Floor.

The Chicago Park District, Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates and Grant Park Conservancy/Advisory Council will present more detailed plans for North Grant Park/Daley Bicentennial Plaza. The project scope will be Daley Bicentennial Plaza from Columbus to the Cancer Survivors Garden ( not Including it) and Monroe to Randolph. We had a very well-attended, public meeting at the end of October and this meeting is a follow-up with the input from the October meeting being integrated into more refined images.

We thank Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park for generously providing us with this beautiful space to hold our meeting. This is an exciting plan and we want to hear your input.
