Alliance Greener South Loop

News from the Alliance for a Greener South Loop

Hot September days have a special feel to them, don't they? The intense heat is tempered by longer, cooler nights. Ahhh, fall is coming. And with fall comes another take on annual cycles:

Greener Award Program
The 3rd Annual Greener South Loop Awards and Recognition Program is underway!  The program is designed to celebrate - and share - efforts underway by South Loop businesses or residential buildings - rental or condo - to be more green.  All are invited to apply for recognition.  Simply complete the online form or download and print a hard copy  application to be considered.
We will recognize early efforts as well as those that are well-advanced.  And all applicants will be invited to an event in the fall to celebrate the winners and share their green practices.  Applications must be received by September 30, 2011.

Is there a South Loop business you support because of their work to be more green?  Please share them with us so we can shine a green spotlight on them!

South Loop Garden Care
Want to put your green thumb to work for the community green?
Want to see if you can develop a green thumb?
The Alliance's Green Gardens Team is looking for volunteers to help with keeping South Loop public spaces green and beautiful.  In addition to weeding/cleaning, we are about to start planning to winterize the two spaces we have adopted: Fountain Park in Printers' Row (650 S. Dearborn) and Ferd Kramer Memorial Garden (67 W. Polk).

Urban Re-Mix Grand Opening
Friday, September 16th is the grand opening for Urban Re-Mix!   Visit to meet local artists and enjoy wine and treats!
