4th ANNUAL CONCERT IN THE PARK
Tuesday, July 13, 2010
4th Annual Concert in the Park at the Women's Park & Garden behind the Clarke House Museum on July 13th.  VanderCook College of Music graduate students play a variety of concert band classics the whole family can enjoy.  Families bring their picnics, we hand out balloons and popcorn-it's a real community, family friendly event.

Please join us for our bi-monthly forum style meeting at the 1st District Police Station at 9am.  More details will be available on our calendar and an event reminder will be sent to you prior to the event.
Our tentative agenda includes:
  • A review of the South Loop Parking Study led by a representative from CDOT
  • Area development update
  • Bash on Wabash volunteer and event information
  • Join our "Community Living Association Committee".  We plan to gather condominium board representatives to plan networking events, share resources, and launch our first "Condo Building Fair".
  • An update from the Alliance for a Greener South Loop and information on the 2nd annual "Green, Greener, Greenest Awards"
June Event Recap 
We enjoyed meeting everyone at our June event held at Zapatista.  Thanks to everyone that attended and special thanks to Zapatista for their hospitality!  We caught the eye of a local blogger - check out his recap here.

South Loop School News

Kindegarten
To adequately plan for teachers and resources, South Loop School is requesting that 2010-11 Kindergarten students register as soon as possible.  Registration takes place daily at the Main Building: 1212 South Plymouth, Phone 773-534-8698 Visit the website and click on "Registration Info" to obtain the list of required documents and forms.

Preschool Program

South Loop School Tuition-Based Preschool program is still accepting applications for the 2010-11 School Year.  It is a full-day literacy-based program in a nurturing atmosphere with individualized instruction. Address: 1915 South Federal Street, phone is 773-534-9066.
Special programming includes: fine arts classes, field trips and drama productions. Partnerships with Language Stars (Spanish), The Old Town School of Folk Music (Music) and Lookingglass Theater Company (drama).
All registration goes through a general CPS form that can be found here. Children must be 3 by September 1, 2010.

The South Loop Dog Park Action Cooperative (SLDogPAC) is holding a membership drive and social event on Thursday, July 15th, from 6-9 PM at Kroll's South Loop, 1736 S. Michigan Avenue.  Food and beverages will be served.

2nd Ward Bike Tour
Saturday, July 10, 2010
Ald. Fioretti's office will lead bike riders on a 10-mile scenic tour throughout the 2nd Ward.  This is a free bike ride and will explore some of the ward's historic neighborhoods, natural beauty and fascinating architecture.

The ride will launch from Dunbar Park, 300 E. 31st Street on July 10th. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and we will take off by 8:30.
