PRINTERS ROW LIT FEST
June 12-13
The Printers Row Lit Fest draws more than 125,000 book lovers to the two-day showcase. Visitors enjoy more than 200 booksellers from across the country displaying new, used and antiquarian books. The festival features stages with more than 100 literary programs, including; poetry readings, cooking demos, kids activities, exhibitors, wine tasting and much more!  Find out more here.
Near South Bus Tours
The Near South Planning Board will host bus tours throughout the Near South Side on the weekend of the Printers Row Lit Fest every hour on the hour beginning at 12 noon with the last tour at 4 p.m.  The bus will depart at the corner of Polk Street and Plymouth Court (outside Dearborn Station).  The tour will last approximately 45 minutes.  Suggested donation of $3 will help support NSPB's Authors in the Schools program.  For more information, please call 312.987-1980.

Each month we sponsor an activity that provides either a community forum style meeting or a fun networking event.  This month, we are  proud to announce that we will be gathering at Zapatista for a networking event!

Harold Washington Literary Award Dinner

Acclaimed author, Barbara Ehrenreich, will receive the Harold Washington Literary Award on Friday evening at the Union League Club, The award, given annually by the Near South Planning Board, recognizes an author's creative use of the written word.  Proceeds from the dinner benefit the Authors in the Schools program - an educational, outreach program bringing published Illinois authors to 3rd and 6th grade classrooms throughout the City.  Reservations required - 312.987-1980.  Ticket price:  $250 per person.

2010-11 Kindegarten Registration
Daily at the Main Building: 1212 South Plymouth or visit the school website and click on "Registration Info" to obtain the list of required documents and forms. 
2010-11 Preschool Program
It is a full-day literacy-based program in a nurturing atmosphere with individualized instruction. Address: 1915 South Federal Street, phone is 773-534-9066.
Children must be 3 by 9/1/2010.  Special programming includes: fine arts classes, field trips and drama productions. Partnerships with Language Stars (Spanish), The Old Town School of Folk Music (Music) and Lookingglass Theater Company (drama). All registration goes through a general CPS form that can be found here:
Full-day Summer Camp
Provided by Youth Guidance, is still accepting applications for PK-8th grade students.  Camp runs from June 21-August13th.  Find out more about tuition and programming on the school website or calling 773-534-8698
