Community Meeting - Wacker Drive, Congress Parkway & Eisenhower Expressway Construction

At 6pm, Tuesday, March 2, in the Robert Morris University Auditorium, 401 S. State Street, Room 803, representatives from CDOT and IDOT will be giving a presentation (posted here).

Construction will begin April 1 and will drastically alter traffice flow through, in and out of the City.  The presentation will detail the type of work being done, street closures, detour routes and construction timelines.

While the construction itself will be concentrated in one geographical area, most of the 2nd Ward will be affected in some way by detour routes and expressway closures.  For more information, please call Pasquale Neri in the 2nd Ward Public Service Office at 312-263-9273.

Run for Your Local School Council

Local School Councils (LSCs) approve how school resources are allocated, develop and monitor the annual School Improvement Plan, and evaluate and select the school's principal. LSCs are made up of 6 parents, 2 community members, 2 teachers, the school's principal, and a student representative. No experience or formal education is required, but candidates must be at least 18 years old and live within the school's attendance boundary.

Applications are available online at www.cps.edu. For more information on how to run for an LSC or how to start one, contact the Office of Local School Council Relations at 773-553-1400. The application deadline is March 4, 2010 and completed applications can be dropped off at the school where you intend to run or at the Office of Local School Council Relations.
