I immediately went to my Bible to see what verses I could find about the desert and this is the one that seemed to speak to me that morning. "The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice even with joy and singing...." KJV Isaiah 35:1,2.
I did not know what God was trying to tell me, express to me or show me. I kept watch over my thoughts after this dream and tried to make sure that all my thoughts were of goodness. I certainly did not want any negativity blossoming in my life or the life of my family. It was not long after that that we moved to the High Desert in Palmdale, Californina. Perhaps, this is what God was trying to tell me.
Charles Fillmore in his book, The Revealing Word says this about a desert place: A desert place in the consciousness of man is a seeming lack of substance and life. In Truth desert places do not really exist. From the viewpoint of Spirit there is no lack. Where God is, there are His inexhaustible resources; God is everywhere present.
Well, I certainly found that to be true. Life abounds in the desert. Flowers after the deep snows emerge from the earth everywhere and the little desert flowers are beyond compare in beauty with any other flower in your most beautiful nursery. Lift a rock and life is there.
My first dream was to plant a garden. It was as if I could say, "Let there be vegetables and they were there." The earth was so fertile that it gave us a harvest that we shared with many in Los Angeles and we still had more than we could use.
So much of our thinking operates on lack and limitation, but there is not a spot where God is not and that means abundantly.
Perhaps, you have arid moments in your life where nothing seems to grow or abound for you. I suggest you read Isaiah Chapter 35 and then just ask God to give you the wisdom to understand what you are reading. Ask to have these verses come alive as to its meaning in your life. There is nothing that God will not do for you, but you do have to ask for what you want to know.
