The month of October has been busy attending ISA EXPO 2009, the WEFTEC Wastewater show, Siemens' Answers for Industry event in Minneapolis, presenting at the PTDA (Power Transmission Distributors Association) and webinars for Yaskawa's integrators.

The ISA Expo was worthwhile for many reasons, primarily in opportunities for new members, both Integrator and Partner, as well as some publicity through ARC. Additionally, there are always ideas gained and relationships built at events like the ISA Expo. Perhaps you know by now but in the future the ISA Expo will be a different format. No longer will there be large exhibits so the event will be in smaller venues.  The focus will be on automation education. Watch for ISA information or go to their website for details.

WEFTEC was a disappointment from the perspective of booth traffic but there are a few CSIA insurance opportunities and that was our main focus.  Our WEFTEC booth was mostly funded by our bonding insurance companies, First Sealord Surety and Nielson Rosenhaus & Associates, so we are grateful for their support and hope some business comes their way. Of course insurance clients also become CSIA integrator members so it's good for association membership as well.

The Siemens Answers for Industry event provided me with the opportunity to do a presentation on the benefits of CSIA Certification for members and end-users. It was well attended and some very good marketing ideas came from the discussions. There are also some new member opportunities. Thank you to Lynda Patterson for covering the CSIA booth.  We are grateful to Siemens for the invitation to participate in their event. We are always open to opportunities to support our Partner members.

Insurance Report Paul Barnard

October was a successful month for the CSIA Insurance Programs and we are delighted to welcome Process Networks Plus and Optimation Technology as new participants.

Regarding our Domestic Property/Casualty Program, the transfer of insureds to First Niagara Risk Management is nearly complete. Our expectation is that all but one account will be transferred. This successful operation has been achieved because our members recognize the benefits of the CSIA Insurance Program and by the excellent efforts of our team at First Niagara. Their dedication and professionalism is a real breath of fresh air.

Following the transfers, we are now able to work on new business opportunities and are processing seven inquiries. Those members that have expressed interest in the past will be contacted this month. All members are encouraged to contact me to explore how our Insurance Program can work with you to improve your current coverage and premium.

Our International Professional Liability Errors and Omissions Program is generating considerable interest and we are in the process of writing policies. Specifically designed for companies located outside the United States, this program is only available to CSIA members and solves a long-standing problem that has faced our International membership.

Our bonding facility is also proving successful with considerable interest from both members and prospective members. We encourage all members that may have a bonding requirement to contact us so that they can get pre-approved.

For information on all our insurance programs please contact me at paulbarnard@csia-insurance.com or (610) 507-6595.
