"Quincy lucked out this hurricane season, but we are evaluating and improving our coastal infrastructure and currently have contracted with Tighe & Bond to analyze all of the City's seawalls."
Greetings!

While Mayor Koch's office sent a letter to many Ward One residents regarding the upcoming seawall meeting and it was the lead story in this week's CityLink E-Newsletter, I wanted to remind you that the meeting is Tuesday, October 11th at Broad Meadows. While much of the meeting will focus on the repair plan for Edgewater Drive, we will also address seawalls throughout the city. I have spoken with the City's Contractor, Tighe & Bond, who is currently doing an assessment and they will be presenting at Tuesday's meeting. As a waterfront homeowner, I spend a lot of time on the water and on the coastline. I have visited many at their request who are concerned about particular sections of seawall in Ward One. Tighe & Bond is scheduled to finish their assessment in mid-late November and I anxiously await their report as to the needs of our coastal infrastructure. Regards, Margaret

Community Meeting on Status of Seawalls,

Tuesday, October 11, 6pm at

Broad Meadows Middle School, 50 Calvin Road

Together with Mayor Thomas P. Koch, I will co-host an important meeting on the status of seawall projects in the City on Tuesday, October 11 at 6 p.m. at the Broad Meadows School.

"The Capital Improvement Plan includes significant funding for seawall repairs and the first comprehensive engineering study of all seawalls in the City in many years. The seawalls are a vital part of the City's infrastructure," said Mayor Koch.

Funding for this seawall project is provided through the Capital Improvement Plan and Hotel/Motel Room tax and does not call for monies from the personal property tax levy.
