"While we are lucky to have the beauty of New England foliage, we also need to be conscious when the leaves fall of keeping our storm drains clear and be careful not to dump any debris that will drain to our city's waterways."

Greetings!

As fall has arrived and the leaves are falling, I ask that you clear the storm drains near your home to allow for drainage. I'm not sure people realize that these catch basins drain to our city's waterways, even those in the non-coastal areas. As we work to keep our waters and beaches clean, please remember to keep the catch basins near your home clear of debris.

The City Council is beginning the process of reviewing the downtown renovation. Mayor Koch will host a community meeting on the renovation this Wednesday at Quincy High School. I have also included information below relative to this week's Zoning and Conservation Board meetings, Ward One Meet the Candidates Night, and the Adams Shore Octoberfest. There are many important issues that I am working on as your Ward Councilor. I encourage you to contact me with your concerns or ideas for our city.  Margaret

Fall has arrived and the leaves are falling. Please clear the catch basins near your homes and those of your neighbors. What goes down our catch basins/storm drains (even those in the non-coastal areas of Quincy) drain to our waterways, bays, beaches, rivers, etc. The above photos were taken near my Rock Island Road home and you can see the water going down the storm drain and then coming out the drain pipe in Rock Island Cove.

Street sweepers are working in Ward One this week and next week. Signs will be posted mid-day the day prior to sweeping and residents are asked to remove all motor vehicles from the streets on the day it will be swept.
