A3Workshops / Conferences 

CMechanical Press Maintenance Workshop - NEW Program! - March 16th-17th, Cleveland

This 1 � day workshop will act to introduce participants to the different types of mechanical eccentric and crankshaft presses. It will provide an explanation of the various elements of the press to provide an understanding of how they work and their influence on other parts of the press and forging process.

 

The emphasis of the Workshop is predictive and preventative maintenance of the elements of the press and things to be taken into account when planning a repair. While questions will be welcomed at any time, after each half day, there will be a 20-minute open forum round table discussion where the attendees will be able to ask the presenters questions on the topics covered up to that point.

 

This Workshop will not be delivered again this year, so don't miss it! Class size is limited, so don't wait to register

The conference will also offer table top exhibits and tours of Jernberg Industries, HHI Forging LLC's Pershing and Bollingbrook facilities.

FFinkl Scholarship Applications Available On-Line  

Know a university sophomore majoring in engineering? 

 

Finkl LogoEach year up to 15 new $4000 scholarships are awarded to students entering their junior year in the fall.  Students with a connection to the forging industry (having interned at a forging or industry supplier company - or having a relative in the industry) are given first consideration.

 

Students must be attending university full time with a minimum cumulative grade point average of at least 2.75. 

  

Complete information and applications are available on the FIA Website and must be submitted by April 15th.

GNew Reports Available in Technical Library 

The Industry Technical Reports Library on the FIA Website has been updated with six new publications on design/simulation and metallurgy courtesy of FIERF's relationship with the Colorado School of Mines' Advanced Steel Processing and Products Research Center (ASPPRC). 

 

Available only to FIA Members, topics include:

         Hydraulic Presses;

         Screw Presses;

         Flow Behavior of Superalloy 945;

         Effect of Strain Rate and Deformation Temperature on Warm-Worked 304L Stainless Steel;

         Microalloyed Forging Steels for Automotive Applications; and 

         Microalloyed Steels for High Temperature Carburizing.
