| We are here to help you!
The new Z Report from POSTEC is designed to help our customers leverage their investment in technology. Our goal is to present ideas to help improve your business. Each issue of The Z Report will talk about ways to increase revenue, reduce costs and improve efficiency using your existing technology. While POSTEC offers a variety of new solutions which may compliment your system, we want to help you get the most out of what you are using today. Our support team is available to answer questions, provide additional training, or help you and your management "fine tune" your system. We want to share our ideas with you and, of course, we are always looking for input from our customers so we can do a better job. If you have a comment or suggestion, please write directly to me. We hope you see benefit in The Z Report and will forward it on to others on your staff. Sincerely, David

Your MICROS System Prints Money Well not exactly "greenbacks". Every Micros system allows management to create a "bounceback" promotion directly on your guest check or receipt. The "bounceback" is an underutilized proven marketing tool that brings existing customers back more often. You can drive customers to a particular meal period or day when business is weak. The guest check offer can have an expiration date, represent a free menu item, or become a simple gift certificate. We do not recommend a "percentage off" but rather a free drink, dessert, or even a bottle of wine. Remember, the goal is to encourage existing customers to come in more frequently or at a time when you need business. Imagine each customer seeing a promotion every time they leave your restaurant. It is simple to implement. The programmable header and footer on your Micros check can be re-programmed easily by your authorized staff. Of course, we are available to help you. It so easy you can change the messaging daily or weekly in a couple of minutes. One word of caution....you want to make sure to track bounceback certificates carefully so they are included in the appropriate reports. They should be treated "like cash" when it comes to your check out process. If your existing reports need simple modifications to accommodate this function, our team can implement changes, help with procedures, and get this marketing initiative off the ground. The response rate from bouncebacks provided to existing customers can be very effective and easily measured. Experimenting with different "offers" is highly recommended. Contact us and ask about the Bounceback Program.

MICROS Can Be An "Eye Opener"

|
In today's economy, temptation can be a huge problem. We are still in a "cash" business even though credit, debit and gift cards are an increasing percentage of our revenue. The experts are reporting an increase in theft, fraud, and stealing by employees. While we would all like to think our staff and people in general are honest, our technology along with proper oversight will help everyone avoid temptation. During the end of shift with a cashier, bartender, or waiter checkout, we normally focus on balancing cash. If the cash count is close, we generally feel comfortable and allow the employee to clock out and go home. In times like these, as operators, we should spend a few extra minutes looking at "exception" transactions. Micros tracks every instance where a check or transaction is reduced by a server, cashier, bartender or manager. Transactions such as voids, discounts, coupons, refunds, no sales, gift certificates, and even "open" food are all opportunities for unauthorized activity and losses. Your system reports on each type of activity and allows you to audit unusual transactions. However, most often, if the cash balances, we think everything OK. Unfortunately, in some cases it isn't. POSTEC can help. We can provide a "checkup" and review of your existing reports, spot trends, make recommendations, and teach your management how to spot small problems before they become big ones. We even offer remote reporting tools and surveillance solutions that make "loss prevention" a daily habit rather than a traumatic circumstance. If you are concerned or just want some peace of mind, contact us for a "loss prevention" analysis:

Credit Cards...Still Something to Worry About

|
We know you have already heard about PCI DSS Compliance. By the way, this stands for Payment
Card Industry Data Security Standard and probably
you never want to hear about it again. Many of us
think that if our POS system was upgraded to a
validated version of software, we are in the clear.
Nothing to worry about...you are "safe", but not really. Unfortunately, this is not the case. Upgrading your
POS system is only one part of the compliance
program. However, there are a whole host of tasks
and follow up activities, that must be adhered to in
order to help avoid problems and liability. Passwords,
anti-virus software, physical access, are just a few of
the considerations in order to keep your restaurant compliant. If you are still concerned, and you should be, contact
us for guidance about how to maintain PCI DSS Compliance. You never want your operation or your customers to be at risk. For a quick update, visit
