Welcome to the CPA Newsletter: Message From the President
Welcome to the first edition of the Capital Public Affairs electronic newsletter! In our work over the last 15 years, it has been a pleasure partnering with numerous people and businesses throughout the state, region, nation and even the world. This newsletter is our way of staying in closer contact with those folks as well the many people we met day to day who are interested in using public relations, government affairs and community outreach to raise the visibility of their business, group or project. We are currently planning on the newsletter being a monthly communication. If there is an issue, idea or new technology you would like us to cover in a future edition, just drop us a line or call us at our Princeton office: (609) 514-2600. -Steven E. Some, President - Capital Public Affairs

Washington D.C. Update
In his first personnel appointment, President-elect Obama has appointed
Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL) as his Chief of Staff. Emanuel, a member of
Congress since 2003, was a senior advisor to former President Bill Clinton from
1993 to 1998 and is the fourth highest ranking member of the Democratic
leadership in the House. Traditionally, appointments to the President's
Cabinet and senior White House management positions have been made in December
and January, right up until Inauguration Day on January 20th, 2009. This year,
it is widely believed that President-elect Obama will announce his appointments
for many of these positions before the end of November, including key cabinet
positions at the Treasury Department and the Defense Department.
In the races for US Senate, Democrats have won five additional Senate seats for a majority of 57-40.
Two races remain undecided- a runoff election will be held in Georgia
on Dec. 2nd between the Republican incumbent and his Democrat
challenger, and the close Minnesota Senate race heading for a recount,
with the Democrat challenger trailing by only 206 votes. In the races for the US House of Representatives Democrats have won 255 seats to the Republicans 174 seats.
