Walk with a Doc Newsletter

Greetings!

Good morning! Are you good? I hope so, because we are always concerned about you. In a positive way. We want the best for you because you make our lives exciting and fulfilled (he must of had a beer or three before this one - not true - the alcohol part).

Can I quickly tell you what a cool week it has been for all of us. We're just the ones to get the calls.  Just since last Saturday April 9th:
  • Dr. Jerry Wilson shared that a former exemplary student is eager and ready to go. What makes this unique is this is One Love, One Heart - Let's Get Together and Feel Alright, WWAD - Jamaica Mon! She is a recent Miss Jamaica that is bringing this physician led exercise program to a much needed locale.
  • Dr. Alan Lewis wants to start a walk for children with special needs at Blendon Woods in Columbus. Can I have an amen, a hallelujah or something! This hits us right here (point to heart - than exit Stage Left)
  • A brilliant, young family physician is starting her career in York, South Carolina this July. She wants to provide a better life for her future patients. She says if walking with her patients is something they want to do, she is all in and wants to be there for them. I'm making her my new doctor. Honey, fire up the minivan and put on bring me a clean pair of tube socks - we're headed south!
  • We were honored to present to 80+ leaders in the cardiac and pulmonary rehab world yesterday. The OACVPR treated us better than we deserved and we are humbled by the amount of people that are going to bring this to their cities in Ohio. Thursday was a high yield day.
Mr. Archie Griffin!!

The Man!By now you know how honored and excited we are to be joined by our hero Archie Griffin. Archie is the OSU Alumni Association President and the only two-time recipient of the most coveted prize in sports, the Heisman Trophy. He is with us this Saturday.

Woody Hayes said this of Mr. Griffin. "He's even a better young man that he is a football player, and he's the best football player I've ever seen."

We will be meeting at 9:30 a.m. at the Westerville Rec Center. It is on the corner of Cleveland and County Line Road. Please call us at 614.714.0407 if you have any questions.

We can accommodate any pace and distance. We just want to see you out and making a difference. This is all you...and Archie Griffin.

This will be Mr.Griffin's 3rd year with us and the first two were incredible.

Thank you Archie! See you tomorrow!

Walk

You are guaranteed to dramatically improve your day by going for a walk or pursuing any type of physical activity. I wish you could see how many people get off the stress test treadmill and say, "That actually made me feel really good."

Well, outside is even better. Let's all do that, let's go for a walk anytime. If by chance I see you, I'll buy you a Diet Mountain Dew (Sweet Nectar of the Gods) and a Blueberry Frosted Pop-Tart (if no one is looking). If people ARE watching, we'll grab some celery and gnaw on the end of it, kind of pretending that we are eating it - until they look away. Then we'll say something like, "This celery doesn't taste too bad. Yeah, if you added a little hummus or peanut butter - that might be even better."

Then we'd have walked and eaten celery and I would start  calling you Champion Mike (or Mikaela if you are a girl). You'd point at the sky and scream "Scoreboard!".

I'd have no idea what you meant, but I wouldn't let on for a second because I wouldn't want to ruin the bonding. Bonding is huge.

Thank you and we hope to see you Saturday in Westerville with Archie at 9:30!

Our best,

David
