Rear Patio of the Student Union
Columbus, Ohio - September 23, 2010 - Walk with a Doc is thrilled to announce that The Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee will be our host this Sunday, September 26th, at 1:45 p.m.  We will meet on the rear patio of the beautiful new Ohio Union.  If desired, there is ample parking available just north of the Union.   We cannot wait!  Please read below for details and if any questions remain, please contact us at 614.714.0407.

Top Ten Reasons to Join The Ohio State University's President E. Gordon Gee Leading Walk with a Doc

10. The weather is going to be beautiful.  It is predicted to be mid 60's and sunny.  The President's influence is apparently quite far reaching...

9. Free stuff.  Walk with a Doc is happy to provide pedometers, waters, fruit (chuck full of natural anti-oxidants that fight heart disease and cancer), Gatorade, blood pressure checks, and medical advice from multiple specialties.  The first 40 people that approach us will receive Free Parking.  What is this Monopoly?! Nope, it Walk with a Doc...with the Coolest University President in the Land.

8. Rufus will be in Athens sleeping soundly.   By now you've likely heard of Ohio University's rabid mascot.  The one that attacked poor, unsuspecting Brutus. Well, we are confident he will be a couple hours away.  He has indeed been banned from future sporting events (including Walk with a Docs), but there is also a remote chance he may or may not have a quaalude (or two) slipped into his Bobcat Friskies Sunday morning.  Just to be sure he has no thoughts of heading north.

7. Gee rhymes with Glee - One of the hottest shows on network television

6. Tour around the Oval, Horseshoe, RPAC, Mirror Lake, etc. with Dr. Gee.  If Walt Disney offered you a personalized tour of Cinderella's castle, would you turn it down?

5. Guaranteed dramatic lowering of your risk of heart disease, cancer, arthritis, Alzheimer's, and 40 plus other diseases - sure you can do that by walking around your neighborhood, but isn't it more fun to do it with friends?   Sunday could be a big part of your 150 minutes of exercise this week.

4. If you've been wanting to make it out to one of these Walk with a Docs...This is not a bad one to start with.  Afterwards, maybe you could check out the Union? Not too shabby in there. Not to shabby at all.

3. Your pace, your distance.  No walker will be left behind.  We all have different thresholds where we receive a health benefit.  Sunday (and everyday) our doctors, nurses, and medical students will be there for you every step of the way.  The total walk loop is 1.8 miles.  You can do as much or as little as you like.

2. Find out if Dr.Gee is that handsome in "real life"? Of course he is, but wouldn't it be nice to see for yourself. Hubba-hubba!

1. Name dropping potential.   Your supervisor at work on Monday: "Hey Bernadine, we need to get the office supply order in by 1:00, do you still need a desk calendar?"  Your response, "That's so ironic you should ask Manager Pete!  A matter of fact this is indeed a picture (hold up photo of yourself and Dr. Gee) of me taken just yesterday with President Gee doing the O and H of O-H-I-O.  Do you know The President? No? Oh what a shame. He and I are tight.  What was your question again Manager Pete?

*Saturday's Walk with a Docs will be occurring as scheduled at our Franklin Park Conservatory, Westerville, and Park of Roses sites (for specific details please see (www.walkwithadoc.org).  Highbanks will not be 'officially' meeting - until Sunday - at the Union patio.  Please stay tuned for all updates on our site.  We look forward to having all of our walk sites together on Sunday.
** Thank you to Becki Crowell, Dan Heinlen, Dr. Gee, and all the other leaders who enabled this Sunday to become a reality.

Have a great rest of the week and we will see you Sunday!

My best,
David
