Greetings!
Good morning! Okay - Zero percent chance of precipitation throughout the entire weekend. That is zero as in - zero! Last time I said this, we were flooded with emails from the RLA (Rain Lovers Association). WWAD's Official Position - We love rain, we need rain - just not this weekend.
Walk with a Doc Columbus - we want you with us in the parade. What if it was a massive, Westervillian festival that had children grinning ear to ear and grown men uncontrollable with emotion? That's what I thought - bring on the clowns (and the Shriners). Here are the details:
The Westerville Independence Parade begins at 1:00pm - on Saturday, July 3rd (there's a very good reason - I think someone is going to tell me the reason tomorrow)
It runs from Heatherdown to St. Paul's Church - straight up Route 3
We will meet in the back lot of St. Ann's/ across from the helipad (very easy to see from the roof, mildly difficult from sea level). You can't miss us. The shuttle to the start of the big event will run from 10:30 - 12:00 I would suggest arriving around 11-11:30
Mt. Carmel is the first float, when we finish the shuttle will take us back to our cars at St. Ann's.
Please wear RED. Bring WATER. This is Walk with a Doc not Get Resuscitated By a Doc in the Middle of a Parade. Wear your walking shoes and practice your best parade wave. (elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist, touch your pearls, blow a kiss).
I'd say this is a rain or shine event, but I don't have to. Please refer to sentence one (sentence two for the engineers in the audience)
This is our time to rise up. Think of what our forefathers did to let us enjoy this freedom and this Saturday. Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Paul Giamatti, Ben Franklin, Hal Holbrook, and many, many others. Many of them walked from Virginia to DC daily - cars were still 50 years away. Although buses were available - very few congressmen rode them (the choppy dirt roads would often cause their ink wells to spill on their fancy velvet outfits - I have a minor in History...from the University of Michigan).
I know quite a few of the bucket lists out there have Walk in a Parade. Well??? Let's get on it. The Parade will take the place of the Highbanks walk this Saturday.
We are so truly appreciative of you and your efforts. Your efforts to read stupid newsletters, improve your life and set the example. You are eliminating heart disease, cancer, and too many others to list. You are the answer.
See you Saturday, David
