Greetings!
Good morning! Hope this morning's brief plunge into absurdity finds you happy and healthy. Happy Mother's Day as well to all the special women in our lives.
Anyway, don't let the pastels and flowers fool you, we are coming at you with a purpose this a.m. The doctors want you to join our Saturday morning party.
We do have a big, big show for you this Saturday, but before we discuss this weekend, we would like to share a little of the excitement brewing at Walk with a Doc World Headquarters this week.
Just in the last few days, we have received toolkit requests from physicians interested in starting walks in Newark, Commercial Point, Roanoke, VA, and an additional site in Columbus. These walks have not been finalized, but let's just say the fireplace is lit, we just poured our second glass of Merlot and the Marvin Gaye is sounding really good. (My
goodness - the doctor must have been on call last night. I can always
tell when he's on Wednesday call - his letters have a certain PG-13
edge to them.)
Dr. Wendy Anderson, Dr. Mary Lynn Niland, and our Director, Kathryn Stephens (you have her action figure) have been working nonstop for the last couple of months to organize Saturday's event at Franklin Park - it's going to be a blast - please read on for many of the details.

Come Out & Walk, Garden & Play - May 8th
This Saturday!
http://tinyurl.com/wlkply
All of your needed information should be in the blue link above. Obviously much more professionally stated than anything I could muster up, but let me say this:
This event is sponsored by Nationwide Children's Hospital, Franklin Park Conservatory, and Walk with a Doc. Thank you to our wonderful co-sponsors. It's an honor.
All Central Ohio Walk with a Docs will be at Franklin Park Conservatory this Saturday at 9:00. As you read in the link, there will be dozens of physicians present for the event. I'll be having so much fun stirring up the doctors. I'll be like, "Hey, Dr. Smith. Dr. Jones over there (point to a random physician across the garden) said I should take my pills standing on my head - that it speeds up absorption, and I could further increase their effectiveness if I took them with Costa Rican pineapple juice. You agree with that? Sounded kind of weird to me."
This Saturday is one you don't want to miss.
Everyone will get a free breakfast, Walk with a Doc pedometer (I forgot to bring last week, very sorry), blood pressure check (if you so choose), water, coffee, and all mothers will receive a gift (Moms - you are special). It will also be the grand debut of the Walk with a Doc 2010 Short Sleeve Tee ($10 - 100% of sale goes to charity).
I know what you are saying, "You can't give away that much stuff! That's illegal." Ironically, you're right.
Seven weeks ago our national governing board - the American Society of Ambulating Physicians ((ASAP) - with considerable input from the horn section of the British Royal Philharmonic) declared this weekend's itinerary - Illegal. Can't have it - they said. It would disrupt the balance of medicine around the world. You can't offer that much for free. Yet we proceed.
To see a map for this Saturday and register (not necessary, but will help us with #'s) please visit http://www.walkwithadoc.org/pediatric-walk-2010-registration/. Thank you. For any questions regarding this weekend's event please contact Dr. Wendy at wendy.anderson@nationwidechildrens.org or Dr. Mary Lynn at mniland@copcp.com
Have a fantastic rest of the week and we would love to see you on Saturday. The weather is going to be perfect.
Our best,
David
