Livestrong Day.
Lance
Today is Livestrong Day. Thirteen years ago, Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with metastatic testicular cancer. As you know, he beat it and has won a couple of big bike races since then. Livestrong's CEO, Doug Ulman, is a hero of mine and a strong supporter of Walk with a Doc. We send the love right back. Congrats, Livestrong, on your special day.

Greetings!

Good morning! Today's date of October 2 reminds me of a story. Right after October hit last year, I couldn't wait for Halloween (candy, dry ice, Elvira, etc.).  To entertain the kids, I spent close to two and a half hours shaving and covering myself in a heavy royal blue body paint (to be a Blue Man Group member).  I was jazzed up - running around miming for the family.
I forgot I was on emergency call.
Once again, 1000 apologies to the Jorgensen family.
Yes, you were and are absolutely correct. I fully appreciate the added trauma of having your loved one undergo an emergent heart cath performed by a deep blue hairless man.

Please read on. Very cool week in WalkWithADocLand.

The Capital WWAD in D.C.

On Tuesday we were honored to present WWAD to the executives at the American College of Cardiology in Washington.*  They represent 37,000 members who specialize in cardiac care. The meetings could not have gone better. We will have a true friend and partner in the ACC.

Please check out www.cardiosmart.org for some very cool, free ways to track your health.

*Dr. Andrew Freeman of Denver played a large role in bringing us to their attention.

This Saturday Morning......

Hmmm! Homemade bananas

Dr. David will be at Highbanks (8:30), Dr. Wendy at Franklin Park (8:30), and Drs. Heather and Greg in New Albany (9:00).

At 8:35, the Highbanks group will spend 5-10 minutes discussing developing news about a common class of blood pressure medicines.

Of course, we will bring the usual coffee, water, healthy bars, and - since I've had some extra time this week - I'm bringing homemade bananas. Not banana bread. Just bananas. Homemade bananas.

Don't you love the smell of Columbus in autumn?

Our Newest Partners

Please check out the new partner page on our Web site (www.walkwithadoc.org), which includes Goodwill Columbus and the Arthur Krenzel Lett Insurance Group.

Goodwill's walk leader, Boo Krucky (@bookrucky if you want to follow on Twitter) has floored us with her Walk with a Nurse. Kathryn's (@runkate75) site visit blew her away.

Craig's company, Arthur Krenzel Lett, has great vision that we also wish to support in any way we can.

For the 3-5 people who "opt out" of the newsletter because they don't celebrate Halloween - point taken.

Just please, please, please go get your 150 minutes of exercise this week.  It will add years of high-quality livin' onto your life.

See you Saturday,

David
