Carrying a loaded gun next to your privates with the safety off - No Longer Recommended

It is unfortunate when it takes a celebrity such as Super Bowl Champion Plaxico Burress to bring awareness to such an important cause.

As our dedicated walkers are aware, we had brought up this specific safety topic at a walk in early September 2007.  For those of you having trouble recalling, it was the week after we recommended not sticking your head in a blender.

Turtle Crossing New location for this Saturday!

We're having our first walk at The Mall at Tuttle Crossing on December 6th - and we are happy about it.  Weather inside is predicted to be low 70's with less than 10% chance of precipitation.  We will meet in the food court at 8:30 a.m. - closer parking is available on south side of mall.  Everyone will go at their own pace, we'll have distances available.  Goal is to get in 30-45 minutes.  That being said, first one to finish gets an Orange Julius (if it still exists).  We'll have blood pressures, free food, and lots of help.

Walking away from SAD
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), affects up to 25 million Americans - and about now is when it starts to sink it's teeth in. The likelihood that one will suffer from SAD increases the further one goes North, women are four times more likely to experience SAD. It makes you feel crappy when the weather changes.
It is unclear if this problem is due to serotonin, melatonin, or other hormones and their effect on the body's circadian rhythms.
A uniform treatment plan has not been set, however, all treatment plans include exercise. In most cases, exercise may help to prevent or manage SAD. Exercise stimulates the brain to release hormones called endorphins, which produce a sense of feeling good. Endorphin production usually begins 15 to 20 minutes into an exercise session and peaks after 45 minutes. Repetitious movements, such as walking, running and cycling, also increase levels of serotonin.
Studies show that even moderate exercise can erase depression symptoms for 2 or more hours. In other words, you don't need to run or rock climb to get this benefit.
The most recommended form of exercise for depression and SAD is simply walking.
