Businesses Remain Open During the Church Street Improvement Project
You may have noticed construction in downtown Evanston, the City of Evanston has contracted improvements on Church Street from Ridge Avenue to Chicago Avenue. For more information, click here. While construction is taking place, please be mindful of where pedestrian traffic can go and please obey all signs within the construction zone.

The Downtown Evanston gift card which is accepted at 140 downtown businesses is now available for purchase online! This new online system simplifies the process of purchasing the popular card and makes it even easier for out-of-town friends and family to purchase the Downtown Evanston gift card for Students, Friends, Family, Clients, etc. who live and work in and around Evanston. The card can still be purchased in person at the Downtown Evanston office at 820 Davis St., Suite 151 and at First Bank & Trust at 820 Church St.

Paint Evanston Purple PEP Rally - September 27
The City of Evanston and Northwestern University announce the 3rd annual Paint Evanston Purple! The PEP Rally (Paint Evanston Purple Rally) will be held on September 27 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Clock Tower (near Clark Street and Orrington Avenue). Join Mayor Tisdahl and Coach Fitzgerald, the players and cheerleaders along with live marching bands from NU and ETHS!
On Saturday, September 29, Northwestern University and the City of Evanston are teaming up to host Evanston Day at Ryan Field for the Big Ten Opener as the NU Wildcats take on the Indiana Hoosiers. Discounted tickets will be available for Evanston residents, help fill the stadium with a sea of purple and come out to cheer for the Wildcats!

Green Living Festival - September 29
The Evanston Green Living Festival is an annual event presented by the Evanston Environmental Association (EEA) and the City of Evanston and is designed to provide a venue where organizations can present green products, services and ideas to help attendees lower their carbon footprint. The festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 29 at the Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd. FREE shuttle service to and from the Davis Street Metra stop and the festival will be available!
Bike The Ridge - September 30
Bicycles are not allowed on Ridge Avenue at any other time, so come out and enjoy this non-competitive, City-sponsored special event! On September 30, 2012 Ridge Avenue will be closed to ALL vehicular traffic from Howard to Church Streets). Bike the Ridge is limited to those on non-motorized bicycles only (motorized bicycles or skateboards are not allowed) between 9am and 1pm.

Music Institute Celebrate Jazz Master Billy Strayhorn - October 26 - 28
Honoring the work and legacy of one of the great jazz composers and collaborators, the Music Institute of Chicago presents a Billy Strayhorn Festival October 26-28. The festival includes two star-studded concerts featuring trumpet great Terell Stafford and a screening of the award-winning film Billy Strayhorn: Lush Life followed by a panel discussion. The festival takes place at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston.
Piven Theatre Workshop presents Tusk Tusk!
Tusk Tusk presented by the Piven Theatre Workshop, written by award-winning playwright Polly Stenham's is a striking play about family ties as an uncertain future looms. The explosive story of London siblings left to fend for themselves after their mother goes missing, confronts difficult familial issues with a blunt, poetic, yet touchingly funny voice that speaks directly to a generation facing a world of upheaval and change.
Evanston 150 Project Update - Thursday, Novemeber 8, 7-9pm

The Celebrate!2013 working group will also explain the 11th idea: Celebrate!2013, and share how individuals and organizations can get involved in Evanston's 150th anniversary celebration.
Downtown Farmers Market - Every Saturday Through November
Official hours of the Downtown Evanston Farmers Market are 7:30am to 1pm behind the Hilton Garden Inn. Shoppers can enjoy fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, cheese, milk, eggs, flavored oils, pasta, and bakery items, as well as flowers and plants. Free parking is available in the adjacent city parking garage at 1800 Maple Ave.
