Evanston 4th of July Parade and Fireworks
Mark your calendars, tomorrow is the annual Evanston 4th of July Parade! This  year's theme is Unity Through Diversity! The parade kicks off at Central Park on Central Street at 2pm.
Lakefront fireworks to start at 9:15pm at Dawes Park following a performance by the Palatine Concert Band! Visit here for the complete list of events happening all around Evanston!

 Get out your dancing shoes! The only outdoor dance floor north of Chicago is open once again! It's Thursday, Let's Dance is in full swing and taking place every Thursday through July 26! Come listen to some great music and dance to rhythmic and rolling beats of reggae and! This Thursday, July 5, Unity will be performing!

Evanston Sidewalk Sale + Artwalk- July 27, 28, 29 
Calling all bargain hunters! Merchants in both Downtown Evanston and the Chicago/Dempster district will offer deals on summer inventory during the Evanston Sidewalk Sale + Artwalk.
Local artists are being invited to set up, display and sell their artwork along side retailers during the Evanston Sidewalk Sale + Artwalk! If you are a local artist or know of a local artist interested in participating in this year's Evanston Sidewalk Sale + Artwalk, download the application and waiver of liability and return it to the Downtown Evanston offices via fax - (847) 570-4738 or email to mdinello@downtownevanston.org.
Nominate Your Favorite Downtown Evanston Businesses For The Reader's Choice Contest  This summer, Patch is on a mission to find the best pizza, the best burger, the best dry cleaner, the best workout spot and the best hair salon in Evanston, among many other categories. Readers are being asked to nominate their favorite business in each of 30 categories. Between now and July 9, submit the local spots you love; simply visit here, fill out the form and click "submit."
Downtown Farmers Market - Every Saturday Through November  Official hours of the Downtown Evanston Farmers Market are 7:30am to 1pm behind the Hilton Garden Inn. Shoppers can enjoy fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, cheese, milk, eggs, flavored oils, pasta, and bakery items, as well as flowers and plants. Free parking is available in the adjacent city parking garage at 1800 Maple Ave.
Evanston Mini Maker Faire: A Showcase for do-it-yourself technology of every shape & kind! 
August 4-5, Evanston will host a Mini Maker Faire, a celebration of technology and the making of things. Members of the Evanston community are invited to exhibit their projects at the Faire, and see what everyone else has been making or come as an attendee! The Faire is NOT limited to technology projects; If you like to cook, use power tools, sew, program computers, use 3D printers and laser cutters, or just like to work with your hands, you are strongly encouraged to attend or exhibit. Sherman Plaza Parking Garage Updates  Inspection of the Sherman Plaza Parking Garage, located on the corner of Davis St. and Benson, determined that there are minor routine maintenance façade repairs that need to be made in the spring of 2013. The protective scaffolding currently in place can be removed sometime this Jul and rolling scaffolding can be implemented once the repairs begin in 2013. New light poles are being installed to replace poles that failed last year due to high winds. The new poles and fixtures are shorter, have less surface area, are of a smaller quantity and are more energy efficient. More information here.
