City of Evanston introduces 311 Call Center

On March 1, 2011 the City of Evanston introduced a new 311 Call Center. This exciting initiative is meant to improve customer service city wide by enhancing staff efficiency of operations, responsiveness to service requests, and general accountability. View the website> 
 

The City of Evanston's 311 Initiative which includes a call center and an online citizen support center will go live on March 1, 2011. The goal of this initiative is to improve customer service City-wide by: 

  • Providing a simple to remember phone number for all non-emergency City services.
  • Providing 24/7 access to city information through a web portal that will allow citizens to submit requests for service, ask questions, and track the status of their open requests.
  • Utilizing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) technology to address information and service requests in a more efficient and effective manner.
  • Improving accessibility of City services to all constituents via phone and internet.
  • Providing exceptional customer service to all residents, businesses and visitors.
  • Improving staff accountability in providing non-emergency services to constituent
Yoga for Tight Hamstrings and Tight Budgets

Grateful Yoga

Grateful Yoga has just added even more options for yogis with limited funds. If you cannot afford the full rate, you can pay by donation at two classes each week. Tuesday 7:30pm Level 2 and Thursday 7pm Level 2-3. $10 is the suggested offering, with a minimum of $5.  Also, the studio now offers a FREE meditation period on Thursdays, 6:15-6:45pm with brief instruction, then about 20 minutes of silent sitting. All are welcome!

Body of Work: The Dance of Art

If impressionist painter Edgar Degas was inspired by the ballet, what or who inspired his dancers? For the dancers of the Evanston Dance Ensemble (EDE), art in its many forms is the inspiration for the youth dance company's original production, Body of Work: The Dance of Art. From Chagall's windows to Leonardo da Vinci's hands to the temples of the ancient Greeks to the photographs of Ansel Adams to the mobiles of Alexander Calder, a group of talented professional choreographers have selected a wide ranging group of artists and art forms to use as inspiration for their choreography.

ESO presents Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Sunday, March 13, 2:30pm
Evanston Symphony Orchestra

The Evanston Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Lawrence Eckerling, is joined by the North Shore Choral Society and new Music Director, Julia Davids, in Beethoven's iconic Ninth Symphony. The final movement's "Ode to Joy," with four stellar vocal soloists Sarah Hibbard, Soprano, Stacy Eckert, Mezzo Soprano, Eric Ashcraft, Tenor, and Paul Grizzell, Bass Baritone, sings of the brotherhood of man. Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3, which depicts the victory of freedom over tyranny, opens this sublime program.

Architectural house You are invited Wednesday, March 16 at 7pm for an engaging virtual tour of Evanston and its architectural styles. Kris Hartzell, Director of Facilities and Visitor Services at the EHC will guide you through the exploration of the city's architecture, revealing the many stories Evanston's cultural landscape tells of reaction and change.

Women Out Walking (W.O.W.) is a 12 week walking program designed to encourage women in Evanston to lead healthier lifestyles and become more physically active. Using walking as the foundation, individuals and teams of women are asked to track their steps and seek to improve their activity level on a weekly basis. Read more> 

 

Participants are also invited to attend workshops that provide tips and education in the areas of nutrition and overall women's health issues. Last, but certainly not least, walkers are invited to explore a variety of physical activity alternatives, including tai chi, yoga, Nia, dance, and other exciting exercise opportunities.
