"The Streets of Evanston"

The Streets of Evanston," a presentation by historian Janet Messenger, author of The Streets of Evanston. Janet takes us on a journey through the history of Evanston's streets, reveals the stories, curious facts, and fascinating tales of the city's routes.
Janet Messenger has been researching Evanston history for years and writing about it since 2001 when she began a monthly column in the Evanston RoudTable called "Once Upon a Time in Evanston." As the title suggests, she turns history into articles that read like stories.

Give a Beloved Book

The Evanston Community Foundation's Leadership Evanston Program is offering a one-day "snapshot" orientation to the community. Snapshot Evanston is designed to give local residents and Evanston-based employees a broader knowledge of the community and its issues.
By the end of the exciting day, participants have a first hand picture of how Evanston works and its strengths and challenges. The program includes an overview of Evanston history, a bus tour highlighting important trends and developments, and panel discussion with distinguished Evanston leaders.

 The Evanston Symphony Orchestra's 65th anniversary season is one to celebrate. In addition to our fabulous opening concert, enjoy Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the North Shore Choral Society and Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with Music Director, Maestro Lawrence Eckerling, conducting and playing the piano solo.
