Join an expert guide from the Chicago Architecture Foundation in exploring the old and new in the thriving retail, restaurant, office and residential center that is downtown Evanston. Well-known Chicago architects and Evanston's own designer contributed to its mix of styles, including prairie revival, Victorian, Deco, International, Tudor and French.
 
Tour dates: Saturdays, July 10, August 14 and September 11; Wednesdays, August 11 and September 8.
Time:
10 a.m.
Meet: Entrance of Evanston Public Library, north side of Church Street between Orrington and Chicago.
Cost: $15, $10 senior and student; Free for CAF members

 Document Destruction Event

Safely dispose of your old personal & financial records!
 
The City of Evanston in conjunction with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC) is providing a one-day document destruction event on Saturday, July 17 for residentially-generated paper, such as medical forms, bank statements, personal files, retired tax forms, etc. The event will be held from 9am to 11am at the Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave. and there is no cost to attend. Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed, but please remove binders. Read more.

Pro Cycling and Family Fun 
 
Downtown Evanston will be bustling all day for the annual NorthShore University HealthSystem Grand Prix  (formerly the ENH Grand Prix of Cycling). Last summer the NorthShore Grand Prix of Cycling attracted nearly 20,000 spectators for full day of professional bicycle racing. Downtown Evanston was transformed as residents and visitors cheered on more than 500 cyclists from 20

Who is Downtown Evanston?
 
Downtown Evanston provides marketing and management services to the downtown Evanston Illinois district and is a 501(c) (6) non-profit corporation.  The district that Downtown Evanston is responsible for is the Special Service Area 4 (SSA4), Illinois' equivalent of a Business Improvement District (BID). Established in 1987,  Downtown Evanston is governed by a Board of Directors and works in partnership with the city of Evanston.
