Traditional Chair header for Newsletter

September is shaping up to be a busy month here at Multnomah County and with the official start of fall only a few days away, I want to take some time to highlight the projects we have been working on.

The board has just wrapped up the budget modification process in response to cuts from state funded, county-provided services and has been tasked with voting in a replacement for the open seat in Oregon House District 46. Also, I've been working closely with the health department to get the word out about the Healthy Retail Initiative, a program that helps ensure that everyone in our community has access to healthy food by working with neighborhood stores.

To learn more about the current challenges and recent successes of the county, I encourage you to continue exploring this newsletter.

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

 Jeff Cogen signature

At Multnomah County, we're committed to ensuring that everyone in our community has access to healthy foods. The Healthy Retail Initiative (HRI), a project led by our health department, was launched with the goal of increasing the availability of nutritious, affordable food to county residents through neighborhood-based convenience stores.

By listening to the needs of the community and offering incentives to local store owners, such as grants and education, HRI is working to improve the health of our community one convenience store at a time.
