This week we continue our topic "Building Bridges to Your Blessings." Today we will consider the, "The Battle for Your Blessings - It's On!" Up to this point we have discovered many practical and life enriching truths.
We have learned that God's continuing desire for each and everyone of us is that we live blessed lives. To that end, we have found that God is willing and able to help us achieve the objective of blessed living and a fully blessed life. Further, we have learned that the difference between blessed living and a cursed life is, quite simply, the quality of our choices. In other words, God has given us the choice to blessed. In Deuteronomy 30:19, God says "Today I set before you life and death, blessings and curses-CHOOSE LIFE." God will not override our choices. Choose wisely. Choose life. Choose God!
Next we saw that or blessings are not simple events. Blessings are a pre-ordained part of God's plan for our lives. We call that plan "our life's purpose or our destiny." When we find and pursue our destiny, we find blessings all along the way.
If that's true it would seem to be impossible for any of us to lead anything other than a blessed life. However, experience has shown us that not everyone reaches his/her place of blessing. The obvious question is Why. If we want to blessed, and God wants to bless us, then WHY aren't we all blessed all the time? Why don't we simply make blessed choices?
The answer is -the blessed choice is not always the obvious choice. However, as our destiny becomes more focused and our relationship with God becomes more intentional, our choices become clearer. A person who thinks in terms of purpose and destiny is better able to think long term rather than short term. Also, Jesus has taught us that his sheep know his voice. We will always have trouble recognizing God's voice until we become obedient as sheep.
Our battle is the battle of obedience. We are not in this war alone. God is on our side, but we have an enemy. An enemy that wants to steal, kill and destroy us. Stay tuned for next week as we discuss his arsenal as well as our own. If you are ready to get blessed - then "The Battle is on!"
