Dear ,

    Wayne

The calendar says summer is here; I look out the window and I wonder! Soon, I hope!

This new picture is a special one, especially for those of you in Corvallis, OR. It is a drawing of what is now the Corvallis Arts Center; but, that was not how this building began. Now it is even listed in the National Registery of Historic Buildings. We call the drawing The Work of Your Hands. You can read all about it below.

It was wonderful to see some of you at Heritage Mall in Albany on Mother's Day weekend. You are now part of an elite group; you know what I am starting to work on now! I won't be able to finish it for awhile though. I need to wrap up the school year with my students and get ready for our next festival -- the Summer Arts Festival in Roseburg, OR, on June 22-24.

If you are in the Mid Willamette Valley during June or July, you can see my work hanging in the hall outside the office at Good Samaritan Church on 35th and Harrison in Corvallis. I am the featured artist for those two months. Can you guess which picture will be the centerpiece of my June display?

Have a wonderful summer when it arrives!

 Celebrating 50 Years

The Work of Your Hands by Wayne Bricco    For the Lord your God has blessed you
in all the work of your hands.
  ~Deuteronomy 2:7a  (RSV)

This historic building, which is now the Corvallis Art Center, was built in 1889 as the Episcopal Church of the Good Samaritan. The congregation eventually outgrew the building and moved into their new, larger facility in 1962. The Corvallis Art Council* acquired the old church as a place to hold art classes and events as well as a venue to exhibit the works of the local artists. (The buiilding is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.)

The Works of Your Hands is done in pen & ink with a watercolor wash. It took a total of 25 hours to complete; click on the picture to see a larger image. The 10"x8" original drawing will sell for $1000. If you'd like to see this drawing in person, please let me know!

 Miche Has Graduated

Compassion  "Whoever welcomes a little child like this
in my name welcomes me."
~Matthew 18:5

We are happy, yet sad, to let you know that Miche, the young man we have sponsored in Haiti, has graduated from high school and consequently from the Compassion program.

We sponsored Miche in 2008, when he was 16. He is now 20 and we are so proud of him! We can no longer communicate with him, but we feel good about his strength of character to face the real world, even in Haiti. We will continue to pray for him and will add a new child to our Compassion family in the near future.

We want to thank all of you for being our Support Team! I am the one holding the pen, but the rest of you are an important part of this team, "...drawing hope for God's Kids!"

Thank you for being a part of the Acrewood Art team!
